So, IP, OS, Web pages, Apps are every data is collected when we visit your site from yesterday?

Why?

How does storing "our" info by you and your "pre-selected" companies help you run this site?

Oh, let me see if I got this correctly - When you mean "pre-selected companies accessing and using our personal info", it simply means you are selling our infos and datas to your "pre-selected" companies for money? And you use that money to run that site?

So, you are basically selling our info?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm NOT a native English speaker so I might have gotten the meaning wrong of this sentence:

And if I'm right on getting the proper meaning, why would you need to sell our info for running this site?
Try other monetization techniques.

Please correct me. :)

It's GDPR rules I assumed, nothing sinister

Looks like a generic GDPR notice to me. It doesn't say anything about selling or sharing personal information, just the standard stuff about IP, browser, etc, which is standard for running any ads.

For reference, here's the full disclaimer:
Ads help us run this site
When you visit our site, pre-selected companies may access and use certain information on your device to serve relevant ads or personalized content.
Information that may be used:
  • Type of browser and its settings
  • Information about the device's operating system
  • Cookie information
  • Information about other identifiers assigned to the device
  • The IP address from which the device accesses a client's website or mobile application
  • Information about the user's activity on that device, including web pages and mobile apps visited or used
  • Information about the geographic location of the device when it accesses a website or mobile application
How information may be used:
  • Storage and access of information
  • Ad selection and delivery
  • Content selection and delivery
  • Personalization
  • Measurement

Thread Moved

This is outside of my jurisdiction, but as the users above me said, it doesn't seem much different than the notices used on any other site. Even the sites I build have privacy policies informing visitors about log files and how their information may be used.

Anyway, I moved this to the forum feedback section, so perhaps DD or one of the admins can provide you with a more detailed response.

Hi @ShiningWarrior - happy to correct you here. This is an extension of the standard cookie and privacy policy - essentially it tells you that we run ad's but in the eyes of the EU parliament / ICO we should be duty bound to go that bit further - so this is that policy put into action. Every site in the world that relies on visitors for revenue from Facebook to MySpace (yep they still exist - check it out!) where they interact with the EU are required to have something similar.

IT's nothing new, nothing sinister - we've always had it in our terms and conditions and privacy policy we just make it even more obvious so ALL users can understand that they will be served adds to keep this forum free for all.

If you have other ideas for BHW projects that will mean we don't need to rely on ad's we've been running our JV with BHW for almost 4 years now please feel free to submit.

I believe this answers your question so I'll close the thread but if you'd like to continue the conversation please pm me.
