I think nowadays any social media account eventually gets PV even legit ones. For example on Twitter any action results in a PV request even on accounts dating back to 2012. I still have several gmail accounts from 2010 and older and they have no phone attached or verified but it's impossible to register a new google account w/o instant PV at least for me. Dunno about IG.

And that's the worst tip ever. Don't ever use virtual phone (VOIP) number for verifications on IG!

IG hates Voip numbers. Text plus?? What is this 2011?
Just recently they got rid of Chinese numbers.
Before that Russians were my go to. Things are a little different now
There was also a BST for renting real t mobile US numbers. Not sure if it’s still up.
