Hey all, I am currently a full-time web developer, I want to take advantage of my skills on creating a web application by creating a website and getting traffic from it and putting an ad on it, or create a SaaS then sell it in the marketplace or publish it online, either way I don't have a proper direction right now, all in my mind is I want to make a passive income even if its little at first, so I can earn some extra money, What might be the best niche or type of website to create today that I can get traffic, monetize or I can sell

What niche is the business you work full time in? Don't you see opportunities there. Its a bit difficult to give you an idea, when there is so many avaiable, and its just down to YOUR imagination. If you don't have a clue about what niche, then start with what you know. Where you already work. Doesn't have to be that niche, could be a software that you use inspires you to do soemrthing else. What are you actually interested in?

You’re actually in a great spot being a dev, just keep in mind there’s no magic niche and nothing is truly passive at first, the win is picking a problem you understand, starting small, and treating the first months as learning not income, momentum comes once you build your portfolio.

If it interests you, a wedding website offering of sorts could be something to look into. You can look at the site and services offered on theknot.com and look at the complaints and pain points people have with them on reddit. You could potentially target one pain point and then expand. You could also develop a website for landing pages similar to linktree or beacon but include options for direct tips/donations or even forms/emails and niche targeted features like integrated twitch stream schedule? Just two ideas off the top of my head

This is a interesting niche.

I am interested in further discussing web development and moving forward...

Few high-leverage plays for a dev looking to build income streams:
1. **Micro-SaaS for a niche you know** - Don't build generic tools. Find a specific industry pain point (real estate agents, dentists, local gyms) and solve one thing really well. Charge monthly. The niche players mentioned here like wedding sites are valid - but pick something you won't hate working on for years.
2. **Internal tools for SMBs** - Small businesses constantly need custom dashboards, inventory trackers, booking systems. Not sexy but recurring revenue. One local business paying you /month for maintenance is worth more than chasing viral traffic.
3. **Programmatic SEO plays** - As a dev you can build sites that auto-generate pages at scale. Think directory sites, comparison tools, aggregators. Traffic compounds if you pick the right keywords. Monetize with ads or affiliate.
4. **Browser extensions** - Underrated. Low competition, easy to rank in Chrome store, can charge subscriptions or do freemium with ads. Find an annoying workflow in any SaaS tool and fix it.
The wedding/event space someone mentioned is solid but crowded. I'd look at B2B niches where people actually pay for software - not consumer stuff where everyone expects free.

Currently my line of work is on managing the company CRM, so we do digital marketing they manage leads and convert, while us maintain the web application, I was interested on creating a movie website as this the previous one I do with adsterra spreading the direct link on social media and gaining traffic, but instead of that i will Create a real movie website that might be the long one i am thinking of, but i am trying to explore what are more options aside from that, like a SaaS e.g url shortener, AI website (idk), or it might be the SEO things which I am not familiar yet, also if I do sell website and pitch it into the businesses, I just planned to buy a templated website and then modify it based on what i want or client needs

Thanks for this bro, I really want to study about that Programmatic SEO plays, but I guess I still have long road ahead for this

If you want to sell your website development skills on freelance marketplaces i recommend (shopify , wordpress , webflow)
Because there are lots of projects and demand regarding these if you are good .
