No there's no problem to host a wordpress website on a regular shared hosting..
Most of time they both are same and the term "wordpress hosting" is use to attract more customer.
But sometime they offer good resources on wordpress hosting...

So you can use any shared hosting to host your wordpress website.
But if case your site is too big or huge visitors then you may require high resources. In that case I would recommend you to go for a VPS not a shared hosting or wordpress hosting.

i heard hostgator shared hosting is good for hosting wordpress sites.
thing is , the authority site may start to get more traffic later as i expand it to get more traffic from other traffic sources.
thanks for the answer tho

I agree word press hosting is just another marketing gimmick. Don't fall for it. And don't use hostgator , a ton of people have had nothing but issues with them :)

If you are looking for true wordpress hosting then i would look at WP Engine. I would say just about 90% of the other host on the market that say wordpress hosting all they are doing is putting you on a shared server and nothing is different but charging you more for it.

If you feel you have a site that is going to take off. Spend a little extra and get yourself on a VPS server.

siteground for small wordpress sites and wpengine for larger traffic ones.
p.s siteground will pull your site offline if you experience a traffic spike!

yeah thanks for the info. someone just told me the same thing.
also i really liked how you ended your sentence with a vps server and then BAMN NIGA
theres a well displayed ad for your service of a vps just below.

smooth ending ;)

I can name hostwinds that gets highest mark for every feature of their hosting. Their customer support is great. Servers are fast and networking is solid.

Get your self a semi or fully managed VPS with plenty of dedicated resources and you are set!
Or atleast get a Cloudy hosting.

Always go for SSD storage / CPU over 3Ghz and bandwith over 100Mbps +DDOS protection (nice to have).

"WP Hosting" "Joomla Hosting" "Drupal Hosting" "Magento Hosting" "Opencart Hosting" and so on are similar to the "unlimited/unmetered everything for a penny" (nice for marketing, to good to be true). :)

/Cheers

I personally use namecheap for shared hosting and haven't experienced any problem until now. You can use that.

If you have the budget and you expect your site will get huge traffic numbers in the future, I suggest wpengine. It will save a lot of hassle switching to a better host further down the line.

I have never heard of that hosting company, I will try it out for my next project. Did you go for the shared hosting or the VPS?

may be get a vps around 5-10$ and use wordpress their...much better than shared crappy hosting

They are great, I got managed VPS with them and their support is fast and friendly.

And the whole WP hosting name is just an marketing trick.
yeah and funny how most of the top hosts are hosted under one company known as ' EIG '.
