Before using a plugin can I know if this plugin can slow down my blog?

We come across various useful plugins from time to time.

But...

Page speed is very important.

So is there any way to know if a given plugin wont slow down my blog?

Uhm, just activate it and test your site speed afterwards? Not exactly rocket science.

Theoretically the more plugins you have, the slowest your website will be. More code => more work for server & browser.

yes, its simple enough but i thought if there is any other way to test...

Less plugins, the better. Test the plugin first by activating it. Check your site site speed afterward.

also you can disable hearbeats.

there is no way around to test. if plugin owner has online demo, you can run a pagespeed or gmetrix test of demo page to see performance.
