All you old school gentlemen utilising CJ.com, Shareasale, Rakuten or any other network product feeds... all you Amazon associate API users...

WHAT DO YOU DO TO DIFFERENTIATE YOURSELF FROM COMPETITION?

E.g. - I take the name of the rpoduct and I search the web for what the other websites have about this particular product then I scrape some additional data about that product which my merchant doesn´t provide in the feed (black hat) and add them to my product page. I do that even in other languages than is the primary language of the shop (lets call it related product information from the web :-)).

I also scan the description of the product looking for some keywords related to the industry and scrape some data on them and add that data to page.

When I sell books (I still do with moderate success), I often scan the description of the product for QUESTIONS. Then I work around these questions.
E.g. the books title is something like "Earth facts" but when I scan the description I find questions like "have you ever wondered why oceans are blue?".
I try to infiltrate these interesting questions in the headings of the product page (I modify the description given in the feed), point some links with these questions in anchor to that page and work around the intent of the searcher.
This also works even though less than it used to work in the past.

SO WHAT DO YOU DO?

I dont target products i target niches, because the key to making money is repeat sales.

So my initial primary goal is to build a customer base that trusts my brand in a specific niche.

Then when i earn their trust upsell them multiple niche related products - that is where the real long term money is.

That, of course, sounds reasonable but do you use any merchant feeds that provide you with product titles, descriptions, parameters, price, etc?
What do you do to not just copy all data from merchants?

Your looking to build a generic site that is auto updated with products.

I dont do that.

I build my own site and specifically choose products from different vendors that fit the niche, grab a prospects email and market individual offers to them.

I see, thanks a lot

Make sure read the terms and conditions..... if it says NO COUPON SITES and you remotely look like one, make sure you write a hand written explanation about what exactly you are going to do for the site. This important for getting approval. Just an inside scoop.... It also helps to write a follow up email.
