The number of strange comments, very strange comments, people who believe they know something about business, everyone today calls themselves a businessman.
BTB I'm taking my hat off, I understand you, and those who need to understand you will understand.
Being greedy is one of the worst diseases of today and I see that some here would do anything for money.
If I have to choose between dying as someone who will help someone, and others calling me an idiot because of it, I accept, but I certainly do not accept to be greedy.

Just weights and just measures is the only way to run a business.
Clients' success is your success. If they're not doing better then the whole reason for offering the service is worthless.
It's your money, give it back.
For me, it goes on paying off people's medical issues on GoFundMe or helping the displaced.
Business owners can afford the $2500 if the investment gives them good ROI.
I'd rather it go to the hopeless.

I personally quit that greedy mindset and just work. And work. And work.
But I see I'm improving with time and maybe I'll be able to teach it to someone, then run my business with them.
One more thing, when I see some young buddies or my peers being greedy, I simply feel like they are still on that weird path and are prone to believe get rich quick schemes are the right path.
People are greedy in a way that makes them invest their own health to get "rich" quickly. They are going over their limits to make some extra bucks. Oftentimes they break their morale and do stupid stuff just to get that ez buck.
It's all the same. Casinos, daytrading crypto, drug dealing, e-who-what. It all makes you feel like you can get a lot of money. It's some characteristic of a grown up person to not fall into it.
One day I was told an interesting story. A man was breaking someone's windows to advertise himself and make people buy his services to insert new pieces. Don't know if it was real, but the guy who told it to me did sound legit.

I just don't understand the logic of randomly refunding customers. All this sounds like is a self promotion post and flex.
People talking about greed and what not.. why is it greed to not refund a customer ? I sell about $30,000 worth of calls a month to a customer, why wouldn't I refund them? Because they turn the $30,000 worth of calls they buy from me into over $100,000 a month.
If you provide a service at a good price then the $2700 service you provided should have generated them more than that in sales. If it hasn't then your service is below par.
People's logic on this thread is strange. Sell something for 10k that will generate your customers 30k and then you don't need to refund, the gift is the service you provided.

No flex as, I do not, nor can I sell via BHW, as I am employed here. It was just a share that I think people should do now and then.
I know there was a saying in a movie a while back, "Greed is good", but in all reality, "Giving is good".
The 2,700.00 is only part of what that client pays us and he does indeed generate more than what we charge him for our services.
Random acts of kindness does not only mean mowing your neighbor's yard or taking their trash cans in for them.
It can come in the form of a random refund, free ORM, extra service on top of what is agreed upon and a bunch of other things.

Everyone can run their business how they like, so good for you if that works for you beauty of being your own boss I guess.
The one thing I don't understand is why did the customer request the refund if it was done put of good will

Hats off to you for doing that. Some call it crazy, but I'm sure that client will never ever think of going to your competitors.
We don't know the full story, maybe $2700 was part of a larger deal, maybe the client's business was struggling.
I probably wouldn't do it this way, to be completely honest. I'd either go for over delivering or invest part of that money for some gift or personalized surprise to a customer (I'm not saying you're not doing that too).

He never requested it and probably won't know about the refund until tomorrow when he goes to work as it is an automated payment on his end.

Main thing is how much he made in past from that client, if it is like 5x ,or 10x of refunded amount and refund when thinking that customer will not stick, so in order to make them stick is probably a business tactic that we all apply.

who do not understand the reasoning, this greatly explains the idea behind BTB decision to give back.
In return - the client most likely will continue to give the business for BTB for upcoming years even if a cheaper service provider will appear on clients' doorsteps.
