In basic SEO meta tags are very important. After doing all on page SEO, Off page SEO starts. In this SEO there are many thing to do. They are
Website URL submission to web directories and search engines.
Submit site to Google Analytic and webmaster.
Bookmarking the website
Submitting site url, title and description to social media networking websites
submitting to Ad placement sites
Blogging about site.

All these SEO make the site at prominent position at search engines.

I am new to this SEO World. I asked my senior SEO analyst for learn many things about SEO. Certainly He was advised me that "create account in Black hat world forum and ask what you want to know " So that i did create my account here. Its really very interesting for me. I've seen many SEO experts here to help me in future. Now i am reading only basics of SEO. Here i got useful thread. It was really a simple and easy understanding post ever. Thanks.
 
I am a huge believer in content! I think that content can get you far in your site. Good content is king and you can really reel in a bunch of people on your site when you have interesting things to read.

1) At first look out for the best beginner-level resources.
2) Put what you?ve learned into practice.
3) Try and find a mentor.
4) Join an SEO group.
5) On regular basis monitor SEO news sites for industry updates.

Some of the points in the original post are very wrong nowadays - look for another SEO that works in 2015 post for newbies, better than using these tactics (meta tags, anchor text with keyword etc)
 
Great write up, I like to also include videos and authority outlinks in my article as well. What helped me alot is reading matt cutts website he has 400 posts about this whole thing with good information.
