Hi there,

I'd like to know if there are any good threads, books or courses about Baidu SEO. Kindly help me out. Thanks!

Why Baidu?

I’m planning to sell a product in China and I’m already working on a website. I just want the website to be visible in their search engine.

The Chinese engine? Why would you need this?

I’m going to sell a product in China and want the website to be visible in Baidu.

Hahaha, Baidu. Baidu is very simple, you only need Chinese. Keep your dynamics up.

What's your niche? What do you want to sell? If you don't know about their consumption habits, you'll waste your time.

Mate, in China nobody uses baidu, is a different digital ecosystem. The best way to get sales in china is via wechat, that should be the question you need to do. In china there are no blogging /sales funnel as we do it here, everything is through mobile.
If you need any questions tell me

Alright my man.

Baidu is quite similar to Google, the key factors are :

-Speed Optimization on the Website

-Keeping up a steady accessibility to the website (not a lot of downtimes)

-Optimisation of the Title, Meta-Description, H1 and H2. You would be surprised that not a long time ago even the meta-keywords were used for ranking in Baidu.

- Get Backlinks from High Authority Websites that are already linking good in Baidu. Baidu is still looking at quality but not as much as google does nowawdays.

Chinese Brands always use Mandarin as their main language because most of the searches are done in this language. Make sure to optimize it in Mandarin.

The competition for Baidu is increasing. So.com & Sogou.com are just 2 different Search Engines in China that are competing with Baidu, which means that the pressure for Baidu is increasing. So they will probably step up their game in the next upcoming years.

Hey man, great info. In your experience is Baidu easier to rank for than Google assuming full proficiency in the language? I've heard nightmare stories from brands (local businesses) that Baidu manually deranks larger local businesses unless the business in question spends a minimum amount on PPC with them.

Haven't heard of those stories yet, Baidu is similar to Google but the Link Quality doesn't have such a high factor than it has on Google YET.
It definetely is easier to rank for Baidu than it is to rank on Google. But you always gotta first look at the competition, check how other sites are performing in your niche and analyze their site.

What do you want to say?

What i mean is, that this is a pretty bold statement to say when Baidu is ranking for #1 most visited websites in China and #4 globally according to SimilarWeb.

Are you Chinese or do you live in China? If not, You can find examples about how the Chinese use the internet or how the brands are promoted in China.
You can say Baidu=Google, but Baidu is not as important for the internet here as Google is.

A Chinese person can stay more than 1 day without using Baidu, while the average use of Wechat is more than 70 minutes every day, and has more than 1billion active users.
A lot of companies doesn't have a web here or they have a crappy one and they don't care, but everyone has an account in Wechat.
Google is super important in western, but here everything is divided between 3 companies Alibaba, Wechat and Baidu, (NetEase is also very important) but if you want to sell something/improve your awareness here, normally the strategy is work with your image in Wechat, work with Weibo(alibaba) and perhaps with douyin (tik tok)

Im not saying that what you say is not right, but for selling to another country firstly you have to understand the consumers. My only purpose here is to help the OP

The op is asking about search. The baidu algos are not as sofisticated as Google. You can spam links more easily. You will need to pay attention to your baike, zhidao, tieba, weibo, and youko accounts as they are heavily featured in the serps. They are similar to the western social sites and are a great place to build content and links.
