Backlinking from your own websites, is it allowed?

I have a small public SaaS website with 3K monthly pageviews or so. It's social media related, initially for a native platform. My domain name also matched with that native platform, but now I expanded to multiple social platforms. I still want to keep that functionality of other platforms, but expand them to another domain where I link to from my original domain.

I'm also currently in the process of getting adsense. Just requested that from google, and I might plan to content lock.

Will redirecting from my own website to my other website penalize me in any way?

Hey! I really doubt google will penalize you. I've searched a lot about this, even right now i looked it up and couldn't find a topic where it says "Yes, it does" In the worst scenario might not be counted, besides that i really doubt. Might be people more informed about this but from my own experience, the answer is no.
 
This is a big question and I hope the experts that have build sites and mainly PBN will answer to this.

The perspective that google takes is this : you can link between sites, as long as it is natural. Building links in the purpose of creating an artificial power for a money site is potentially risky. I doubt you will have problems if the sites looks legit, as long as it is not some sort of link wheel, but only a 2 website thing, it seems like a link exchange and if the link is placed contextually and that it makes sense, you will not have problems from what I saw in many threads around here.
 
Doing it once won't hurt. Plenty of sites link between, think of Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart Canada. They interlink. The problems arise when you're doing it for BH purposes and then you have to start treating it like a PBN.
 
I do link between sites that are in control of the same company (like company departments), I wouldn't link between PBN sites tho.
 
I have tried it many times but with only a few links and I haven't seen any negative effect on my site but remember the effect may vary from person to person. It's all about the experiment, sometimes we get +ve result and sometimes -ve.
 
I was thinking of making both a general platform website, and make an individual one. One for reddit, one for facebook, one for youtube, etc. Then link between those from each other and also from the main site. That might be too extreme though?
 
Google wont probably pernalise you, but the sites you redirect to might..so ensure you read the Tcs of the sites you be redirecting to
