Hello,

I am a 19year old teen who has had an entrepreneur-like mindset for the past 5 years. At the moment I am in the mandatory army serving my country for 8 months. We are currently in isolation due to covid-19. Having a lot of free time has caused me to start learning about dropshipping- so that's what I've been doing for the past 2 days.

I am currently building my first e-commerce website that should eventually become a general store. I was looking for domain names only to find that everything that I really liked had already been taken. That's when I randomly thought of the name "badselection.com."
I bought it without a second thought.

Now I stand before the problem of marketing the domain(brand) with my products. My brain is generating all kinds of ideas but when I start to analyze them, they don't seem to be so good anymore.

I'm hoping that the BHW community will inspire me with some kind of ideas and tips&tricks.

Thanking you all in advance,
Hexenium

Warm welcome to the community.

As soon as I read that domain name, a fashion niche hit me right away. Private label or POD fashion brand for the modern-day youth and above. Since the "dark ideology" is trending nowadays, you could make something very interesting out of it by creating a fashion brand. I don't know, it's obviously up to you and what you prefer.

Would be great if you could dive a bit deeper and share your thoughts or at least in which direction you're willing to go. I mean, what do you find interesting and applying to yourself? Because doing something that doesn't interest you will eventually turn into inactivity.

Thank you

I want to sell anything that makes me money.

Creating a private label is really hard for me at the moment but I understand why it would fit.
My first goal / bigger milestone is to create a working general dropshipping store with Shopify.
My second goal is to make it profitable.

I want to sell all kinds of products, in the same store, from different niches and run ads on them.
Right now I am adding 10 hot products to my store and will run Facebook ads on only one of them- just to see how it works. (I'm doing this e-commerce thing for the first time)

Right now I am stuck at the front end of my business. I don't know how I should proceed.

Should my store be called the same as my domain or should I just slap a big happy "Hi Friend" on the header of my page and design it in a bright and happy tone, even tho my domain wouldn't fit with it?
I would basically be using my domain as clickbait while generally having a normal store like other dropshippers.

Or if I decide to go all out on the "bad selection" then should I build my store in a "meh, this item is decent, buy it if u want, idc" kinda attitude, hoping it would attract customers? And if I already have a shop like this, then should I start running ads in the same manner also? It would become a depressive store that looks like it has given up on selling items but secretly wants to succeed immensely.
I don't even know where this kind of approach in e-commerce came to my mind but I think this idea could succeed if I find the right way. I might not be able to find it at all. Maybe this is all just a dumb idea.

How do I tie together my domain name, many many different products from different niches, and my store's front end while saying that my business has "bad selection" ? - This is the big question.

I think while buying the domain my mind knew it would be a challenge but would pay off in the end. If I can't make anything out of it I can just buy a new domain with some mainstream name.

My expression skills aren't the best so I'm not even hoping to get many replies to this thread. But it helped writing and thinking through my options.

dont do the mistake and overthink too much. you cant predict what the outcome will be. just test as much as possible and go your way.
