Ask A Guy Employing for $0.4/hour Anything!

In first world countries like the USA, Canada or UK, no one would.

But I'm from a third world country and I can tell you that some people here are willing to work for as low as $0.75/hour. I've seen software developers working for $4 an hour and I'll tell you why they work for that low.
$4 = 350 Pakistani Rupees..
If they work 8 hours a day = 2800 Pakistani Rupees
And that comes out to be ~80,000 rupees a month and they don't even have to step out of their home.

While I'm not sure if the OP was truly hiring for $0.40/hour, I'm quite sure you can hire talented people for $1/hour or even less in some countries.

And to all those who're calling this slavery and all that... LOL! Read some basic business/outsourcing and you'll realize that finding people willing to work for LOW MONEY is what outsourcing is all about. OP is not forcing them to work, they're offering themselves... so whats the big deal?

The big deal is something far beyond the scope of just Internet Marketing Outsourcing.

There are two kinds of business owners.

Those who bank, pay as little as possible to their employees, and spend the rest on their own luxuries. Then those who bank, don't spend money on unnecessary luxuries, and give their employees a bonus, in the form of money, gifts, parties, etc.

Its always a judgement call on which route you take.

To those who state that your employees are "happy" working for such a wage or that this is "basic business"; This is a transparent justification for greed. Bash that point all you want, Deep down inside, if you are the former boss, you know its true

I doubt the OP was telling the truth, or it was complete shit quality anyways.
But people complaining about it, is just stupid. It's not America, $1 to some is a big deal. He's not forcing them to work for him, it's their choice.
@fizzlemahoe, not sure wtf the point of doing a conversion is. $.01USD could be 10,000 in some country, but it doesn't mean it's worth more, it just means products will cost more. A can drink might be 100,000 in the currency instead of $0.01, so doing a conversion to other countries is pretty retarded.

I pay a 16 year old kid in Pakistan $2.50/hr. It was his offer to me. Do I feel bad? Hell no. If you feel bad paying someong 50 cents an hour, you should feel bad paying someone $5/hr. This is the whole point of outsourcing. You're paying people less in other countries where the dollar does a lot more in their country for the same quality of work.
To those that say they couldn't sleep at night, I'd like to see you say that if you were maing seven figures a year.

I think the main focus here is are the people being forced to which the answer is apparently no. People in the US are prone to want to enforce our way of life on every living thing. If someone is happy making .40 then who are you to tell them they should not be?

If you pay them .40 and it makes them happy, be the cool guy and pay them .80 and make them ecstatic! :drum:

That's roughly Php 2,600.

Internet: Php 900 a month
Electricity: Php 2,000 a month

So yeah, you get to starve to death for $64.

I used to work for India's largest private sector insurance company. My secretary was a college graduate with a couple of years of work experience. She is highly proficient in English and has excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PPT. She is in the office from 9AM till 7PM six days a week. Her salary is ~ $225 per month.

So you can imagine what unskilled people are willing to work for.

ps. I am thinking I could start a venture by hiring like 50-100 of these people. Just don't know what work to give them.

People letting your emotions affect your business. First of all, these following things need to be understood:
1. These people are not working for the OP exclusively. They also work for many other employers, thus providing themselves with a stable, diverse income.
2. If they were not happy with $0.40/hr, they would not have taken the job.

If you still feel bad, there is no reason you can't request a monthly work evaluation from your workers, asking if they are happy with their work and their pay, then respond accordingly.

Like everyone is saying, I thought Il add as well.

OP is not really forcing the workers to work at that rate. He offered it, and they accepted. They are happy with it, and that should be all that matters.

Talking from the other side of view, the OP could be a bit more ethical and give a higher wage, but in my opinion, if the worker is happy with it, then that is fine.

You people got some angry management problems.

@madsem First of all I am unfriendly? You people are bashing the OP like he/she a slave master. Then you come bashing me because I answer someone question on how they are able to afford internet service. I already say it depend on the country and economy. Common sense can tell you that you will not be able to buy anything for $0.01 in any country. Simple common sense. Tell me how is my math wrong? Did I do a wrong conversion? I think you are the unfriendly one. Coming up all here angry and stuff.

If they make $96 per month Vietnam then they are able to afford internet service. You said it range from 500,000.00 to 2.5 million VND. For $96 = 1,997,280.00 in VND. So it is enough to afford internet. So how am I wrong? Because I did a conversion of $0.01? What you expect me to do when the OP not even paying $1. So I went with the lowest currency in America and did a conversion. Then people can do their own math.

@jon_xx_x simple I do a $0.01 conversion is because that is the lowest currency in America. What do you expect me to do $1 conversion when the OP is paying less than $1. You can see that I did a conversion for other country like Taiwan, Philippine, Japan, and say ETC.

O yea I must have expect it that you can buy a bottle of water or something in taiwan for 0.30 TWD, or the phillippine for .43 PHP or japan for .82 JPY. Damn if I knew you can buy anything for that kind of money I might as well buy all of it from them and resell it in the states and be rich.

I did the lowest currency in america to show the conversion so people can just do their own math.

$0.01 = 0.43 PHP. Since the OP is paying .40. Just times that by 40. 40 x .43 = 17.2 per hour in PHP. Then whatever amount they work for you just times that. If they work for 8 hours a day. 7 day a week. You just do 17.2 x 8 = 137.6 in PHP per day. Then you just times that by 7. 137.6 x 7 = 963.2 in PHP per week. Or 137.6 x 30 = 4128 in PHP per month.

Enough to pay the Internet & Electricity according to BigMarcusStud. Is it also enough to feed the family. I do not know.

Like I said you people got some problems and stress. Need to chill out and relax. Really I do not care what the OP is paying or other people is paying. I am just saying people are hypocrites cricitizing the OP because he/she paying $.40 to his/her worker. When everyone basically doing the same. Everyone think they are better/right and the OP is wrong/douche bag because they paying more than him/her. Yes, $0.40 is cheap but like $1-5 is not cheap either? That is still less that minimum wages in America.

Anyway I am correct about how the people are able to afford internet service. Like I said it depend on the economy and country and the OP is paying enough to cover it. If they are working a 9-5 job.

Looks like a moderator went hard in da paint and B-H.A.M'd the OP! Same thing I would have done, the whole initial entry to the thread reeked of an advertising lead in.
