Article Marketing Works! GTF In HERE

Article marketing is kind of like its own little world where it seems like people forget about what's just sensible SEO and marketing. Lots of good info in this thread but I guess a few things could be clarified.

Doing it for link building works, but IMO it's not a good way to use your time. You need good quality articles for EZA and that sort of site so you're going to end up doing a lot of writing for an article that probably won't actually drive any traffic. You can bulk submit to other directories, but those are very low quality sites. There are plenty of cheaper or faster ways to build links.

The real great thing about articles when done right is that you can rank a page on ezinearticles very easily if you're targeting a low competition keyword. If you can do really good link building you can target higher competition keywords. I've done huge studies on this and there are a lot of people winning on great terms doing just that.

The winning formula is really just combining a few factors.

  1. Low competition, decent volume keyword.
  2. An affiliate product or products that is targeted to the keyword.
  3. An article that seamlessly leads into a click on your link.

Whether or not you do a direct redirect or set up a sales page depends on how well your keywords and product match and whether or not your article can presell your product. If it's a product review and you provide a link to what you claim is the best source for that product, you obviously don't need any sales page. You might have an article explaining what to look for in x type of product then lead them to a page comparing several things they can buy. It just has to make sense, and SO MANY ARTICLES ON THESE SITES DO NOT FOLLOW THESE RULES.

DO NOT write an article for the sake of ranking on a keyword that doesn't seamlessly lead to a click on your link. You may assume that if you can rank and provide some info you'll be bound to get some clicks but this just doesn't work. Either you lead them in, or the visitor is useless.

Couldn't disagree more :)

Using article submissions properly can rank keywords with relative ease.
Tools will submit your article to 400+ PR1 or higher article sites - you then need to ensure they are found and indexed.

For the past 8 weeks I've found that the need to spin has increased, but I can get 280-300 good quality links ranging from PR1 to PR6 with article marketing.

The caveat being that the article alone is NEVER enough. You need to index, bookmark and link the article to ensure it "counts"

If you have 300 of them, then that's going to need the right tools or a lot of time.

Personally, I don't rely soley on articles - I use private network links and WEB2.0 sites as well, but I have seen great improvements on sites that I have started with article marketing only.

As for driving traffic throughy articles - what a fecking waste of time. You end up trying to rank an ezine URL rather than your own site.

In the short term this might get you some direct traffic - but in the long term it really is waste of time.

Ezine doesn't need your help.

Remember PR does not translate directly to position in SERPS.
Get your own URL's ranked - not Ezine or whoever.

Good info here. I think article marketing is an essential part of an overall internet marketing strategy.

Hey Math,

interesting point about the blogger profile, I'm putting together a site, and didn't think to consider that point. It's a WP blog, can you give me a suggestion on whether you think it would help, to put a "owners profile" on a blog that sends customers to the sales page?, and can you give me any tips on how much info it should contain?

I had never even considered doing that

directory-> blog-> sales page

that is if you think it is warranted on the "middle man" blog page

thanks!

For the moment I am not using a squeeze page. I've put a couple of articles and made the blog more personal, less hype style. One of the thing I've notice is when you make a great blogger profile, people seem to have more trust in you, and more trust in what you are writing.

A good review is well over 1000 words, and Ezine article minimum words is 250, so to give something more in your blog is not really hard. And btw, I'm not promoting Amazon products, only clickbank.

Just put your name, age, and were you live. Make a little description about yourself that has a direct connection with the product you are selling(EX: get your ex back e-book)- Hi my name is..... i recently got back with my ex and... bla bla bla

articles are one of the best methods, as also to get backlinks

I have a couple of questions
if you guys can help me, I'm really thrown
I'll be honest "keyword research" has left me totally confused!
I want to write some articles and submit to directories, but just don't want to be spitting into the wind....you won't believe me but I have read sooo much on KWR and it's like everything contradicts everything else!

if I were to focus on Google's KWT and google serp's
(only those two for the time being, and I mean just "serp #'s for now!)

math or anyone can you give me a ratio of what kind of numbers would be in a good range for both?

and if I should be doing a "exact" or "broad" search in KW search tool?

and in serp's, should I use "allintitle" or "quotes" or what combination of the two?

and PLEASE give me an example of good "numbers" or ratio of the two

HELP!! I have read so many conflicting pieces of info I want to jump out of a window!! Which means I have to find one first!
and it's cold outside! I don't really want to jump! I'd get all dirty!

Please help me math or anyone, if you do, "me love you long time!"
(help help help help.......... and ahhh help!)
you guys are like geniuses, and I am like the dumbest person on earth!!

I think there are 2 strategies here -
1. quality articles on quality top article sites submitted manually
2. mass articles spun well for mass number of article sites and submitted via a tool

Choose your strategy or mix of the 2 as per the keyword / niche and most importantly by studying the top 3 rankings in your niche / keyword. See what strategy they are using to rank up - sniper or brute force?

Just started article marketing yesterday and you have no idea how this boosts my spirit! I just had my first article approved on articlesbase, let's hope for the best.

I've been mass submitting spun articles w/AMR and then hitting them with scrapebox links. I realized I had a hundred articles I had bought a couple years ago and never used. Just gotta keep at it. Spinning an article even with TBS take an hour or two if I do it right. Need to build up stamina and keep spinning. :)

What do you mean by "hitting them with scrapebox links"?

A lot of you guys are talking about doing extra stuff after mass-submitting your articles. All I've been doing is submitting them, period. What are these extra steps, and what is their purpose?

Great , but be sure to target 'buying'' keywords and make your titles keyword rich. Go write some more!

Honnestly I think you're going way to complicated than it really needs to be. When I do keyword research, I just check for Broad or exact keyword match, and try to find really competitive keywords(mostly short-terms)

After that, I simply make that short-term keyword into a middle-long term one.

EXEMPLE:

initial keyword : Buy mazda 6
modified keyword: Buy yellow mazda 6 in texas

Remember that this is just one exemple,so don't go try out selling cars while only adding colors and location to the keyword.. lol

Anyway, I think you'll understand. By doing that, you'll have much more chanche to rank Num.1 in the SE.

P.S: This works really well when you put the ''middle-long-term'' keyword into your article title, or simply make it as your title.

P.S.S : KEEP IT SIMPLE

Hope this helps!

Math

I use google keywords tool, wich can help me find low competion keyword with at least 1000 search per month in order to rank better in SE.

Instead of writing articles to keep them on G page #1 for these search terms, why not register a few exact match domains and get them ranked permanently? I think you will agree with me that your rankings for the articles that you posted a few days ago will drop off from 1st page, eventually.

You already know which keywords brought in the sales, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to spend a little more effort to scale up your income by exploring more $$ keywords and build on those gold mines.

That's how I built up my empire and you should consider doing it as well.

Congrats and keep hustling. :D

I have to admit that articles often drop from the first page, and I know that exact match domains are really worth it!

I already own several exact match domain that brings good money.

Thanks for sharing this though.

how many articles should i submit per day to an article directory so that it wouldn't look spammy?
