Some creators say Shorts help growth, while others say they hurt long-form engagement. What’s your experience do Shorts actually benefit your channel overall?

IMO, it’s all about the funnel. Shorts are great for discovery and quick subs, but they bring a "fast-food" audience. In my experience, if you don't use Shorts to teaser search-optimized long-form content, they just tank your average view duration. Use them for reach, but stick to search for conversions.

From my experience, Shorts definitely help with reach and getting new eyes on your channel, especially early on. They’re great for testing ideas and pulling in subscribers fast. But they don’t always translate into long-form views. The audiences behave differently Shorts viewers often don’t convert into people who sit and watch 10–15 minute videos.

So overall, Shorts are useful, but only if you treat them as a funnel: grab attention with Shorts, then guide people to your main content. If you rely only on Shorts, growth can feel kind of “empty.”

shorts help with discovery and new subscribers, but they can hurt long-form performance if the audiences expect quick content instead of longer videos. best approach is using shorts to attract viewers, then guiding them toward related long-form content

It's totally a mixed bag, depends on how you use 'em. Shorts can def get new eyes on your channel, but converting those views to actual long-form engagement feels like a separate challenge

Shorts helped me get way more reach, but converting those viewers into long-form watchers is the hard part. I think they work best when the content style matches your main videos.
