Agree with him. Upwork has turned into a shit show. Linkedin is a gold mine for freelancers.

Show off your skills in twitter. I see people get gigs from Twitter all the time.
 
Your giveaway seems good and I might be interested in SEO related projects.
 
www.freelancer.com has many fake listings but you just need to grind in order to get those better projects. I dont think all live one's there are better.
