Digital Nomad is a person who is can work from any place or country, by doing his work online.

There is a group of people who call themselves as digital nomads and post fancy photos of exotic locations on Insta... so what do u feel about them?

If you are one of them? Can U explain what r u doing?
Cheers

I guess I am, having lived (over 1 year each) in 6 countries. Yes I can live anywhere (sort of, as I have a family).

And yes it is a thing, thousands of people are doing it, mainly in Asia (Thailand), some in Central America too (Costa Rica).

To me countries and borders are things of the past based on ancient history, and I now live in the UK (If you know what I mean!). But they are still needed for the general population.

Yes, you can call me this, but I don't really see myself as a "nomad". I just do what I like. But what I think is ridiculous: I met lots of people in Thailand, which were earning almost nothing (maybe $100-300 per month?), but these people were the ones who talked about "oh how nice it is to have such freedom to earn money from all over the world".

Also there are so many people who have NO SKILLS, but go to Thailand, Vietnam etc. in order to BECOME a digital nomad. Its like they think its a university, school or whatever. Lol. So by myself I stopped talking to this kinda people. Once they knew I made $5k+ per month or they saw in what apartment I lived, they were like "please master teach me". Trying to be my "best friend ever" and so on. Ridiculous.

Since 2014 I am mostly living in Asia. Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and some other countries. Mostly in Thailand tho. For some time also stayed in Europe (Spain).

God i hate these people. It's like, you would like to teach them but its so much more than just copying a method. It's a whole lifechange and change in mindset that makes you rich. Not just copying a method. Sadly only 3% of people like this will understand it and the rest will either call you a liar or keep on annoy you.

Yeah, i made some totally disgusting experience with this. I taught some people and they would just copy EVERYTHING I do. Act like friends, but are spies. One of them even copied my content, used the pictures I created etc. Its totally crazy

I feel for you. :(

Yes, its a total bitch move. Like its not even enough for these people to get spoon feed, no, they also just steal the content. This people are not "creators", they are typical employees. Never think outside the box, never think and do on their own.

Why should you care about them?

We should strive to make our source of income copycat resistant.

The pseudo digital nomads that keep posting pictures on insta are actually not 'digital' nomads. Most of them are scamming the unsuspecting audience by selling them the dream. They are actually trying to be what we call 'influencers' these days. Selling the dream through their content is their business.
Like @nakamura above pointed out, they're clueless wannabes. Chiang Mai is full of them.

The actual digital nomads couldn't care less what the instagram audience would feel about it, they're busy building big online businesses.

Really Sounds like u r living your dream, good luck with ur future endeavours

I can't call myself a nomad per se but I do travel very frequently across the world thanks to BHW. Recently, I went to a few states in USA such as Miami and NYC, travelled to Iceland and made my way down to North Africa exploring Morocco and Egypt as well as going to Spain. I'm pretty tired from the travelling but it's an amazing experience being able to work online and experience different cultures.

I might post some pictures later from my computer hard drive if anyone's interested.

Yeah. I bounce from one Starbucks / Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cafe to another.

I used to pay $5000 a month for rent and overhead for one of my online businesses

What an expensive learning experience

Now, I enjoy maximum freedom without being tied down into an EXPENSIVE high rise hole

Being a digital nomad can be cool. In order to become it you have to build a business online. There is no easy way to do this. You have to put in the work. Some people think that digital nomads have an easy life. And if you built the right business online, that can be true. But there is a lot of hair tearing trial and errors in the beginning that most would find too frustrating to do.

It can be done, but you have to have a thick skin in the beginning.

Yes. I have been travelling for 9 months to: sri lanka , dubai, thailand, vietnam, cambodia, indoensia, malaysia , singapore , korea and japan.

I budget 50-100$ per day and only book things about a week in advance.

I'm not a digital nomad but in my island there is a lot of digital nomad and i know some of this guys that are really a digital nomad.
Blogger, dropshipper, BHW member like us, up to the shaddy one like online poker/gambling site.
Yup, digital nomad is certainly a thing.

Totally a digital nomad here! Travel while doing my IM business. I define being a digital nomad as being location-independent with your work. So whether I'm in Iceland, South East Asia, Eastern Europe, Northern Africa, South America, Australia, or just the coffee shop down the street, as long as I don't have to be plugged into one location to do my job, I consider myself a digital nomad. The traveling part is just a perk and I do it just because I love to travel and not necessarily because I think it's required to be a digital nomad. But that's just my own definition of being a digital nomad.

Most digital nomads seem to be in their 20s/30s, living out of 2 bergans.

I'd like to think I am one, but with the 2 of us, 3 dogs and a removal van for our possessions, it's probably not quite the same. Plus I'm 20+30 in years...

I do quite a bit of travelling myself though, around 11 flights coming up in the next 6 months, going to 6 countries.

Which place did you like best, how long do you stay in one place and what age range are you?
