Are .XYZ Domains quickly becoming the next .com ? $$$$

People don't like change, .com has been around far to long and has it's roots buried deep.
I highly doubt anything will come close to replacing it.

Next .com, I don't think so. But it is indeed becoming very popular, I didn't find any 3 letter .xyz available.
With some luck and several years later, it could be something similar to .net (best case scenario IMO)

XYZ's are generic enough and cheap now even .coms were and soon will go cheap again, every extension is following an strategy and that is also fine.

.xyz will not stay cheap and prices will go back to normal soon as they reach a certain amount of registered domains, selling domains at 0.99 is not a good deal for Resellers, but they did that because they can see it is a good move, since they will largely bank on renewals. Godaddy does it all the time dont they, does this makes an extension worthless I say no.

Of all the new domain extensions .xyz domains are at the top simple nobody can refuse that and this happened WAY BEFORE they were priced at just 1 usd, it happened as a consequence of Googles actions and even before that over a million .xyz domains were already registered at 12, 16 usd a piece. --Why this happened?

I do not market .xyz domains here, what would I gain?

You got on BHW expecting to have a discussion about the rise of .xyz domains. You got it.

This isn't our first rodeo. I may be new to this forum but I'm not new to being online, and a lot of people here can say the exact same thing. So when we say things like "That's not going to happen because [insert viable reason here]" that's not a flame. That's a discussion. It could be laden with sarcasm, but it's still a discussion.

You ever have a conversation with a sarcastic person irl? Did you stop asking them their opinion on things because they were snarky?

Case in point: we're all adults here. We've got mileage, we've got damage, we've got opinions. Don't expect all of us to be super polite while participating in your discussion. Also, some of us have valid points, even if our contribution comes off harsh.

And none of this is flaming. In fact, this is a decent discussion. I've seen way, way worse on this forum. You got lucky Daniel.

You should get to know this forum before you start accusing people of being big fat meanies. No one is going to want to take you seriously if you're going to throw a hissy fit bc everyone isn't playing nice like you want them to.

I am not an online newbie either in fact maybe older than most posters on this thread when it comes to doing IM as a living, no bragging here, but the only reason why I am pointing out this is in order to turn back the attention on what I plan to achieve on this discussion, to create a source of well based points of view and relevant info about .xyz Domains, a thread that anyone interested could and can benefit from..

I mean it is way different to say..

This is black because I think so! - Instead a valid argument and well constructed opinion could be.. This is or will turn black because: This data and or info from this credible source, have explained or said so.. Do you get my point of what I am trying to achieve on this discussion here?

Well i think this is a nice topic.

It is hard for .xyz to replace .com, but without a shadow of doubt, they are becoming extremely popular.

For my 2 years in IM, this is the first time i saw .com price drops in namecheap, currently 8.88. Coincident? probably :)

Why the hell do we need an entire thread dedicated specifically to information on .xyz domains? We never had one for .com, .net or .org. There isn't one for .biz, .us, .club or .ninja. Are you for real right now? It's just a domain extension. Why do I need to look up information on a domain extension? I'm not that ignorant or dense. You're just trying to get people to buy these things. Just stop.

Who cares if Google bought one? I don't even care if Jesus bought one. That doesn't mean I should go buy one.

The "It's popular! Go buy one now!" marketing trick is older than Moses. This isn't high school. In the end a domain extension is a domain extension. The ending of my domain isn't going to make me more or less money than anything else. It might have an affect on my search engine ranking, but if I don't give a flying rat fart about ranking on Google, it doesn't matter.

People on BHW are not stupid. We see through your ruse Daniel. Now please go have several seats.
 
If you had $10, and you could register any, any domain you want, would you go for a .com or .xyz ? We all know the answer.

Also when someone starts a discussion thread that does not indicates an Obsession but an Interest in talking bout a GENERAL INTEREST subject, I am not asking people to discuss any personal matter, I believe the subject has been proven to be sufficiently popular as to have a decent discussion here.. Now can we move forward and discuss some relevant news, stats, info, issues about .xyz domains, etc?

Dont know about if .xyz going to become next .com, But i bought 5 domains for my churn burn projects. They are too cheap.
