Are hashtags still worth anything these days?

Recently there was a guy here that claimed he could boost your post to good positions in the top tags.
That sparked the question: Is it even work it?
Instagram has constantly decreased the relevance of hashtags.
The "Tags" tab is hidden to the far right on the search. Only places comes after that.

When I check big hashtags with 100s of millions of posts, I see posts with only a few hundred likes.
I think that means that being on the Top Posts section doesn't mean anything anymore, else those posts wouldn't be there or receive much more exposure.

If a person is looking for something, he will just type it into the search bar and receive the "For you" results.
For example if a person is looking for pasta recipes, he will type "pasta recipes" into the search bar and not use the #pastarecipes hashtag.
Those "For you" results are totally unrelated to the hashtag Top Posts from what I can tell.

Then I would conclude that it would be beneficial to be seen on this "For you" page but what influences even what is shown there?

What are your thoughts on this?

I stopped using hashtags a few months ago unless I post something not exactly related to my core niche.

I see people who are successful without using any hashtags. Unless the subject of the post is niche, I don't use it. Maybe 1-3 hashtags can be used. I've heard that constantly using the same hashtag causes harm.

I see many accounts on my niche still use around 20-30 hashtags and they have grown so much shortly, so I till use them

Not much relevant I feel can be skipped or if you want to use 3-5 should be enough not more than that may look spammy

Not really, they are useless these days. But its no harm to add relatable hashtags based on the post

It helps but they're not that relevant. But yes, it can help the reach (still)

These days hashtags are completely useless,
You can still used 1 or 2 of them no problem just make sure you are not using hashtags for every post or you are not using the same hashtags everytime

Absolutely useless.. all popular hashtags are spammed so bad
