I'm fairly new to all this and desperately trying to get more likes to my page, but so far failing quite miserably.

My page struggles to get even 3 or 4 likes a day.

Is offering a prize (e.g. to a random person who likes my page during February) okay with FB?

Or is this prohibited?

Also, has anyone tried and had success with offering prizes or something similar?

Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions.

Is jaywalking prohibited? Does everyone still do it? You actually can run contests on your FB page, but you're "supposed to" abide by their rules:

E. Promotions

1. If you use Facebook to communicate or administer a promotion (ex: a contest or sweepstakes), you are responsible for the lawful operation of that promotion, including:

a. The official rules;

b. Offer terms and eligibility requirements (ex: age and residency restrictions); and

c. Compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing the promotion and all prizes offered (ex: registration and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals)

2. Promotions on Facebook must include the following:

a. A complete release of Facebook by each entrant or participant.

b. Acknowledgement that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

3. Promotions may be administered on Pages or within apps on Facebook. Personal Timelines and friend connections must not be used to administer promotions (ex: “share on your Timeline to enter” or “share on your friend's Timeline to get additional entries”, and "tag your friends in this post to enter" are not permitted).

4. We will not assist you in the administration of your promotion, and you agree that if you use our service to administer your promotion, you do so at your own risk.

I am also running Facebook contest. They've got rules but there were times I don't follow but it's okay. Just don't abuse it too much. You can also run contest through third-party app. This way participants cannot join your content without liking your page first.

Just a thought, have you ever tried getting Facebook ads for likes? Hmm instead of giving prices you can pay for ads so people will like your page.

Thanks very much for your replies @KraftyKyle and @Carrie-stone.

I think I might try some ads and also a competition. I feel like I've arrived at the FB party too late just as everyone's starting to clean up and go home.

Do you think the days of building a large FB page for a business are over? Is there any point at this stage? What are your thoughts?

Are there any sneaky, super cunning tactics I can use to grow a massive Fb audience? Or am I dreaming?
