Meh, it's going to be close to impossible to beat Google in anything
 
They can't even make a proper f'n notes app. I don't think this will work.

They don't need to beat google tho. They have a huge audience of fanbois who won't shy away from using their services even if it's inferior.

I agree with him. It will just turn into bing search 'google' type situation.
 
1 thing for google to worry about is that it will be the main search engine on ALL apple devices and google will loose a lot dollars because of this.

I would be so happy to see a true Google competitor.

We would have to worry a bit less about Google updates and it would force Google not to take all of the first page.
Have to see that though. Apple has the financial means to bring something on the table. And the Apple fanbase with Iphones and Macbooks could take a slice of the cake.
Honestly, if there wasn't a kind of monopoly in search engines we would focus more on quality that optimization for one specific search engine.

Yandex is a good competitor

There's Yandex Browser, Yandex Disk, Yandex Mail, Yandex Search, Yandex Pay etc.
 
Let's hope they will finally solve their issues with WebP :anyway: :anyway:

Yeah but Apple has a fanbase no other company can get.

You could say Microsoft is powerful too with all the Windows OS around but Apple is incredibly better at locking people in their ecosystem. Google is paying 15 billions to Apple for that reason.

Imagine Apple taking quickly 20% of the search engine market. This would be Google worst nightmare.
I have no idea if they can purpose a decent search engine but Apple can surprise people. They gave a hard time to Intel by producing their own chips and replacing them in their MacBooks.
