Anyone dropped varsity/college for IM?

Do you have a plan for you when you're sick of IM and don't want to work in IM anymore? Macdonald or Pizzahut

Allow me to twist your words:

Do you have a plan for when you are sick of working at McDonald or Pizzahut and don't want to work there anymore?

Aslong as you treat IM as a job you are going to succeed. IM is not always fun, IM is not always easy, IM changes constantly and you are going to face hard times eventually. If you stop doing it because of these reasons than you were never made for working in IM anyways...

Well if you're sure you're going to make more money in IM than IT in 4 years then go for it.
If not then don't drop out. Sounds like you just want a year of no school with your parent's money to fund your hobbies.

I'll share you some statistics that may or may not change your mind on dropping out college. By the numbers, there appears to be a real incentive to attending a four-year institution and emerging with a bachelor's degree. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the college educated have an unemployment rate of 4.5 percent as of May of 2011. Those with only a high school diploma have an unemployment rate of 9.5 percent. According to the U.S. Census, men with a high school diploma or equivalency in 2009 earned on average $36,332 and women earned $22,868. Men with a bachelor's degree earned, on average, $70,568 and women with a bachelor's earned $42,128 on average, per year. The decision is up to you. Albert Einstein once said, "A ship is always safe at the shore - but that is NOT what it is built for."

Do it. drop out and look at IM as your final chance to become successful in life. I dropped out during my 5th year last year and now closing in on 1k/month before and quickly increasing. i was only $200/month in school. Tough road but totally fun and worth it, much better than the college scam. And if you're smart you wont need 11k from parentals 1k is enough to turn profit.

Hmm. Deciding to suck up the third and final year. My aim is $1k/ in March 2014. Seems doable.

Thanks all...

If I were your parent I would tell you that if you drop out of school that you are on your own. They are paying for your education - and if you decide to walk away from that, don't count on anything from them. My suggestion, suck it up, stay in school and learn while you're there (and work IM on the side for that matter). If you drop out of class and you don't have a regular IM income, then you'll be working for the money and STILL won't be able to go IM full time.

Might as well stay in school where you are learning many things that could help you in your IM. (You get out of it what you put into it - in both in time and effort). If you pay attention, you will likely learn many things that will help you in your IM projects - or at least I can say I have.

I was going to say all the same things.

+ 1 to this.. don't do it my son. if you "play" around with that 11k it is more than likely that you will lose all of that money. It's best to start this journey with $0.

Your parents should fund you $0.00 per month and give you a taste of what the real world is all about. You'll appreciate school more, and whine less.

Old salt is right, if you're going to drop out, then on your head be it. I left school at 16 to work in a call center, looking back, I should have done the time and at least got some highers out of high school. Since then IM has been alright, but I still want to go to university and get a degree.

If everyone in IM had their bank account total amount next to their username instead of a post count, you would likely change your mind about the true value of education and the ownership of a degree. Its unfortunate but true that many people who have a degree are working near minimum wage jobs all around the world right now, what do you think about the people who don't have those degrees?

You can say you are going to be successful in IM, but I've been great personal friends with a lot of people who have sold "Make $10,000 a month at home in your pajamas!" eBooks and other media, but you visit them in person, and everything about them from what they are driving, the clothes they are wearing, and the home they live in all say otherwise. Theres even a really popular marketer on WarriorForum that actually has made a lot of money selling eBooks there but guess what? He works at a gas station because he Has to, not because he wants to.

My point is, the world of IM looks awesome online - but go to a meet up or something and you'll find something very different.

Complete your degree, even if you decide to drop out, dont take your parent's money.

I dint drop off but I did not take the job I was offered during placements in college as I wanted to do something off my own and yes, I started with 0$ in the bank and dint take any from anyone.

A degree is for when you hit your first failure in IM, panic and need a job, until you get burned out at your job, and work evenings and weekends to build up your IM business again.
Parents Money = Absolutely Not :(
Evenings & Weekends = Absolutely Yes
