Anyone doing anything with mine craft servers now days

I picked this domain up a good while back in an auction

Plan at that time was to setup a gaming server with it. never got around to it.

Wanted to see is this even popular any more? Now that I have some time was thinking about setting something up or should I just go and list the domain some place and sell it.

Well, since you are already into hosting you could try to set up & rent Minecraft Servers, put advertisements on famous Minecraft Forums and sell servers there, they usually go by the amount of slots each minecraft server has. I don't think that selling would be that ideal, minecraft is still a good game, especially for younger audience. There are new servers being made every day and having a good marketing technique mixed with a decent price will get you in the game.

Well, Minecraft had around 75 million concurrent players in December. So the demand for the game is still very high and healthy.

Most of the popular servers right now are run by the YouTubers that play on them. Selling ranks and kits or whatever.

To make it successful you would need to build a community and have great marketing.

Just slapping together a server without any mods or game mods will not get you long anymore.

So if you have somewhat an understanding of what popular now, go ahead and launch a server. Marketing on Forums, Server lists and Influencers will get the ball rolling.

If that is too much work, you could probably find a buyer for the domain.

I would launch a server myself since I think it would be fun to run in the long term.
