Hi, I'm new on this forum, changed my 9-5 job to "own" projects.
I am running couple Windows 8 apps with affiliate links (Amazon, SeatGeek), selling Amazon stuff and tickets.
One of my app is in US top 100 Sports and I earned only $87 in couple months, not very impressive. It's not a stupid app with shitty design, it has nice features and quite useful.
So my question is - anybody is doing Internet Marketing (if I can call it so) with Windows Store apps? All I want is to exchange knowledge.. feeling alone in this market.
    Thanks

The reason is not discussed so much it's because the W8 Apps aren't so popular yet,but it's a constantly growing market and traffic should rise day by day.

    I feel your pain.
Its not enough to just bring value these days, is it?

I was biding my time last year waiting for lift off with WinStore....thinking better a little late than a little early. I was really hoping for the best with MS new stuff....and I would never write them off...and id like to see serious contender to Android/iOS domination, in which MS looks the lesser of the evils.....but I think theyre starting very much on the back foot here.

btw You should maybe ask this on HN, not here

Specifically Gooogle: "Ask HN: Anyone Making Money on Windows Phone 8 Apps?"
Good info in the comments there. Hope its useful

I daren't post the link as Ill get another infraction for "spamming ads"

Agree. So before the official launch it was such kind of gold rush squatting good app names (they are unique). I remember those days.. I spend 3 days and nights brainstorming app names and continued later. I've reserved about 990 app names (110 limit*9 accounts) and trying to make money from it. After 12th of September Microsoft allowed everyone to reserve app names and I noticed that most of good names were acquired quickly.
So basically it's EMD in terms of internet marketing.
By the way it's much harder to make an app than install Wordpress, put plugins, datafeed, generate pages and throw it for masses.
There are in-app purchase ability for W8 apps, I will use it later.
The main problem is conversion and traffic. Almost all affiliate options are weblinks, that means Chrome/Firefox/IE windows will be opened and it's not Metro/Windows 8 style anymore. If only there was an API to to purchases and orders from the app. Most of major companies use Comission Junction, Linkshare etc..

Theoretically Win Store is epic event in Windows world.
Centralized shop to sell apps for multi-million wintel computers, no more softpedia, shareware zoo madness with stupid flashing buttons and Nullsoft installers from 90's, converters, tweakers etc.
I hated it so much, clicked fast to install software, unchecking toolbar installations and "free" offers, "just give me functionality I want and when I'm done I will forget your software as a nightmare".
And now it's unified interface for all apps focusing on content (and so on.. marketing fluff), but now it's all in one place and app names are unique, renaissance of .c()m domains! Roughly it's 900 mil machines with windows 7. And if I open calculator and enter conversion %.. and if small % will buy anything from me I could be a millionaire (how good it is in theory).
Well, let's see how successful this method will be in the future.

Hey fellow, can you share the code source of your app. I tried to make one for my blog with amazon items shared on it.
    I didn't succeed :(.
