Any tech heads about? Need laptop advice!

The reason why you want as much RAM as possible is because you'll probably have a bunch of tabs open all the time, multiple programs running and very likely multiple VM's running.

Make sure to check, if you like the keyboard layout and type-feedback. Do you feel like strangling the 1-line Enter designers or are you OK with it? Ctrl on the far left or not (looking at you Lenovo)? Little things like that could really ruin your experience, until you get used to it. But why would you, you are paying for it, get the one that fits you right away.

As for monitor, you want high pixel density. Since this is going to be a laptop with a smaller screen, you probably don't need a 4K display, but you want at least 135 or better 150 pixels per inch. Anything less will look terrible for office work. Smaller pixels look better than larger pixels.

I have used Lenovo, Dell and HP. According to me Lenovo is worst thing to buy with money. HP is very durable laptop. Lenovo is from China and HP is from USA. Your choice to choose from China or USA. I will choose USA as everyone knows the quality of chinese companies.

HP is China as well since to my knowledge of their manufacturing it's all done in China as well more less.

HP laptops are made in China. It doesn't matter where the company is from, every company uses components from China.
Asus and Lenovo both are trusted and reliable brands.
HP and Dell have gone downhill in fact. Both in quality and after sales service.
You don't even know what you're talking about.

I would agree with you fully on Dell as well in the past used to be in many Schools used to get Dell computers for schools but once the quality got worse and worse over years instead someone I knew was headmaster at school told me in this own words"Dell computers are now pure rubbish made often from second-hand parts for why we now just use Acer or Acus computers when we upgrade the school's computers."

I got my first computer in the second half of 80s. Still using it every day, both for my job and at home. I used all kinds of hardware and operating systems you can think of. If someone is interested in, I can list advantages and reasons, but the short answer is: for business, the best is refurbished Macbook Pro. It will work without a problem at least 5 years, maybe a decade - it is an investment that pays off

Amazing laptop, handles everything I need and more.
 
Bought the MacBook air M1 16GB, 512GB SSD config a few weeks ago. Pretty handie for a traveller. Still exploring as my main PC has been the dell XPS.But, totally considering moving all files and docs to the Aie. Handles tasks way lot better.
 
i've owned about 5 laptops in my life and their's only 2 things you need to know. You get what you pay for. Quality really is based on price and never get terabyte drives. they always crash. 500gb flawless, 800gb worries me. always back up in the cloud to 2 different places and use a portable passport drive. i use seagate

and Lenovo is made by IBM. so i stick with lenovo. Used to have a toshiba, HP, a dell and 2 lenovos, 1 broke, still works though was $900, 2nd one im using now was $1700 worth the price. just make you get an i7, the other specs will match it, so you don't need to wrry about it
 
I have plans to buy a Lenovo Ideapad or a MacBook. But the MacBook has an expensive repair if something breaks.
