Any tech heads about? Need laptop advice!

I'm a travelling man, as much as I'd love a desktop it just wouldn't suit me the greatest.

So I spend a good 8 hours of my days online now and my daily "chores" would be communications(Skype, Discord, Emails), coding, editing content and in future with events there may be a few streams and stuff I'd need to get done...

I'm no tech head, this time last year all the information I needed was taken down with a pen and paper... Will this bad boy do the job for me, or am I looking at its usages wrong?

Basically no games, pure work... Few bots, good amount of files and a lot of servers and stuff are done through her.

A fellow Irish man it appears! I've used both Windows and mac laptops over the years my advice would be if you've no specific requirements for Windows I'd go with a second hand/refurbished macbook Pro. Battery is great and I've found performance to be excellent. I'm still using my 2014 macbook Pro without any issues and I spent the same money on an xps 15inch a few years ago which is slow as hell (and terrible battery life).

Try adverts or donedeal if you're looking in Ireland.

I've got no experience with Macs or that... I'd really be throwing myself into a spin with that kind of move. This laptop got suggested to me by a college student using it for computer systems and networking. Problem with yourself and @Blackhat Lifter suggesting Apple products is I picked this laptop out cause of the $700 price... Apple's bound to be x2 that!

Send help bro... I've been beamed by adverts and done some beaming enough to be sketched out by that :P

External RAM? Thoughts?

You can theoretically expand your RAM in the future, but some notebooks have soldered RAM and it cannot be swapped / upgraded.
 
Looks like you'd end up needing a good battery life. LG Gram and Asus Zenbook are pretty good. Have a look.

In the given marketplace, your pick is the best one in this price range. Others for 700 have UHD series graphic cards and the same RAM.

But in general, this one would handle the tasks you said unless you don't do any multi-threaded automation and stuff. I worked on a similar laptop for 4 years. It worked smoothly for basic needs like browsing, skyping, watching movies, etc., but it struggled a little when I edited long articles on gutenberg.

If you can afford adding some more bucks, I'd recommending checking something with 16gb ram and a gtx series gpu.
 
With a budget of only $700, I would look for a 3-4 year old workstation laptop, like a HP ZBOOK, a lot of power within budget and a quality machine.
 
You can if you do a bit of looking on Ebay get decent computers on the cheap quite easily.
 
Hi, I have this => ASUS Zenbook Flip 14 (UX462)
Perfect for Office, WhatsApp, BHW, etc.
I use Filezilla, Notepad++ and Kindle Preview.
I bought it as repackaged (use only one time, I just made a restoration), for almost €750.

Check out the Samsung Galaxy Book S 13". Costs less than 600€ and weights only 900gram or less. The Samsung laptops are pretty solid and well build. Same goes for the Huawei Matebooks. Great quality.
 
Just get a used Lenovo Thinkpad. You can find an X1 or something similar on ebay for $700. It will last you another 5 - 7 years without needing an upgrade. I bought mine for $300 but it's an older model so kind of bulky. It outperforms new $1500 shitty HP laptop I have from work!

Why do you think it will last for a longer time I am always curious to know

Is the configuration too good?
 
take a dell that has good battery autonomy - and small screen - ssd - 12 or 16 gb ram
 
Are you from India? If yes then wait for JioBook to be released next year.

They're built really well and even when I compare my older laptop to newer models that have similar or slightly better configuration it seems to outperform them.
