You took the right step mate. I was smoking for 21 years and left 2 years back all of a sudden. It was quite tough in the initial days but all it requires is will power

Here is my story on how I quit smoking, WITHOUT HAVING INTENTION TO GO FOR IT EVER AGAIN. Sorry I just had to write it like that lol.
So one night a friend of mine and me were sitting outside smoking a ciggarette, and my friend just said(out of nowhere) : Lets quit smoking. So I agreed and we left that bench and were to meet tomorrow evening again. Pretty easy right?
Well here is the hell I went trough the day after the bench sitting. Troughout the whole day I had no cravings to light one up but somewhere at 6pm I went outside to meet that friend again and here the hell began:

The moment I step foot outside the cravings began. It was so intense I was literally fighting my mind not to light one up(keep in mind that I still had some cigs left that I didnt throw away). So in a walk that lasted about 20min I was fighting my mind, should I smoke or not? I came early to the place where I was meeting my friend and I sat down and was still having a war inside my head, while it was heating up in there I took out my tobacco, rolling paper and filter to roll one. STILL FIGHTING IF I SHOULD TAKE IT OR NOT. So i finished rolling and in my head I was still nopeing for it but mechanicly lighted and took 2 inhales. Then my mind just became peacful, I realized that the chaos I had was for nothing and that there was no point in lighting it up. It was just a moment of realization and I threw that cig away with everything I had papers, filters etc.

So eventually my friend came and asked me if I had smoked and I lied. Which made me realise that I was lying to myself and it just made my decision stronger to not smoke anymore. Now its been a year and I am disgusted when I smell cigs and dont have the intention to smoke ever again

If you need mental guidance with this(anyone) I will be sure to help as I took my time to write down that process and I researched it and did an analsys. Pretty much helped a bunch of friends quit in a short spam of time. PM me I will be glad to help.

I smoked cigs from the age of 16-22. I gave them up and bought myself an e-cig. Still has nicotine, so I guess that isn't really "quitting," but it's a much better alternative, and I don't do it anywhere near as often.

Don't go to the "reduce" trap. Stupid idea. Either quit it or smoke. There is no in between.

My main problem is that I don't wanna quit because I really like the smoking process. But I understand how bad it is.

Smoked for 8 years and stopped this January, still going strong. Before this, I stopped a few dozen times. In my honest opinion, all you need to do is keep trying to stop. Stop every day if you need to. I literally went to bed every night and told myself - tomorrow I'll stop, untill I really got the balls to do it.

I've listened to a podcast where they say psilocybin (you have it in magic mushrooms - shrooms) is a VERY effective substance in efforts to stop smoking. There are several researches on the internet connected to it. It's worth trying if you're willing to experiment.

smoked for about 5 years, got a nicotine vape a couple months ago that i'm more addicted to than anything.

i think i have it in my hand like 40% of the time im at the computer, so its probably worse in some ways. Definitely causes gums to be inflamed and probably recede more than smoking.

on the positive side, i havnt even thought about a cigarette in months until i saw this post lmao
