i have used avg before and it was ok.. kaspersky is supposed to be the best and some banks in UK offer it free so it might be worth checking to see if you are eligable (intrnet banking)
personally i keep it raw
windows defender etc is more than enough
antivirus slow down the computer as they are resource intensive and have to index every file
also i dont trust them.. heard conspiracies that they send virus as the licence begins to expire in order for you to constantly be in need
ive always been better off when without
if you put cameras up on your house. theives will assume you have something worth stealing
