Just wanted to share some "exciting" SEO news. Looks like there might have been another Google algorithm update around February 8th and 9th. Some folks (on another SEO forum) are saying it's even bigger than the one on the 4th. You can see plenty of volatility around that time.

Indeed, I have noticed some drops in traffic on most of my automatically-generated sites, especially for those in the US and Canada.

Some have also reported losing as much as 20% of their traffic in just one week! And as if that wasn't enough, others are seeing changes in their keyword rankings. To give you a better picture, I've thrown in a chart from the thread.

Well, I've pulled some more screenshots from the thread I mentioned:

If anyone wants to have a look at their tools to verify what the situation is right now, that could prove useful.

that's a pretty steep descent, i'm not into SEO at all but is that the usual when there's an algorithm change with google?
are you not blacklisted or something? that's close to 0.

Yes, there was an update and Google as always love to be an asshat. They pushed spam sites above legit sites. Their front page is being infested with parasites for high comp keywords.

My Gosh, is it associated with clean up of AI made contents? Also is your website was made using AI and thats why you are seeing such huge drop in the graph?

I think it might be semi-related but I've heard Google only targets poorly made AI content (i.e. non-informative). The websites I own that use AI content have taken a hit (mostly older articles generated with older algos) but my hope is they should recover.

My two websites lost around 20% traffic today, so probably something changed in the algorithm. One domain is 8 years old and the other one 3 years old

Hang in there mate! We've got to weather this storm.

Saw small decrease last few days but nothing outside of the ordinary monthly hiccups.

One of my sites got hit too. Built in 2017, hand written articles...which is why I am back here at bhw...time to launch some parasite blogs since that's what seems to be working now...

Google sometimes does not like good content , google algo really works crazy tho .

The new google update makes it useless to syndicate your content to higher authority sites, here an interesting example;

This article syndicate from NBC Sports:
(https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/dansby-swanson-leaves-cubs-game-v...) is syndicated to yahoo news.

Yahoo news: (https://sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/dansby-swanson-leaves-cubs-game-0154551...) for the keyword 'Dansby Swanson',

What do you think happened? Yes, a seo dance in google for a few minutes on April 11,12 and 13.
After this seo serp dance google selected the Yahoo Article as the original source it ranks on #5, the NBC Sports origin article on #20.
This is the reason why google gaves a big gift to his wef friends- big seo domination sites, to rank with your content because the canonical tag is
useless now.

So for the moment not use any syndication method or plugins, deactivate pingback and trackback in wordpress, and not use any rss feed tp syndicate your content too.
You should rank only with your original article not otherwise. You can prevent stealing from your site with a hotlinking plugin,
but there is always a chance that big sites scrapes content from you, the worse part of it is, lawyers telling you doing self protection as best as you can, you see, detect any web scrapers is not possible or block their ip when they use cloudflare (or similar) their ip changes hundred times a day....

Rss Feeds , pingback+trackbacks, helps content thefts finding new content who is not indexed, copy it 1:1 and publish it as their own and outrank you.
What a shame today the web is becoming a vacuum for criminals....with lot's of "loopholes" for big sites to steal your content the legal way.

Syndication:
yes you can do this to get traffic, but use a variant of your original posts not the same and not the same keywords and H1+H2 titles - then you can do this, or create different new posts (who are nbot be on your own site) for free to syndication sites, but not-never your own original post

Have happy weekend !

your competitors using low quality AI content on your site ??? Do you have allowed them to be guest post writer ?
Ban them and remove all the low AI content from them on your site (then you will be back in serp ranking) + write 2x times a week pillar content and you will raise up in the serps again. Using not the same broad and two word keywortd phrases the big authority sites uses who dominating your niche.
Go the sub sub way..... on pillar content too is like this; pillar topic = three word long tail phrase - then build the sub-subs.........

Big sites who dominating a niche google sends the majority of traffic first to them the rest is for you....I see that these big niche domination sites not paying attention on longtail phrases (3+4+5 word phrases) and try to get into Bing when your audience is US based the US search volume is big in Bing (depends on the niche- keyword) .

Not forget the big niche dominating authority sites are in Bing too.

Have a happy weekend !

Let me try long tail phrases

Ok try longtail phrases content for your posts and pillar content (pillar will bring you more traffic on these longtail phrases) and check longtail phrases on spyfu (free keyword tool) and in Bing ads tool (free) ....

Happy Sunday !
