Another Amazon Journey - $100 per day

This is a great thread and journey!
I will use your journey and tips as my guide book to follow.

Regarding analytics and useful SEO and Internet tools - you might be interested in Yandex Metrica.
This is a Russian analytics tool, but it got more tools then GA and has better tracking system - it has heatmap as well as WebVizor - tool that records all mouse moves, clicks and keyboard typing. I use it to study behavior of my visitors and it helps me to understand what can I change - make better etc. It's totally free - other analytics that have the same tools are usually cost a lot!
You need to have an email with Yandex in order to register.

Not sure if you're one to the people that believe you're better off not using google analytics, however, if you are okay with using google analytics you can also use the Page Analytics Extension from Google on Chrome and it shows you exactly how many clicks each link is getting on each page. It's pretty helpful and exactly what you're talking about.

I'm using Clicky right now, it has everything I was hoping for. Yandex is good as well, I'll use it on next sites.

Update:

$55 yesterday, nothing special, that's the average day right now.

My 2nd site this month is finished (finally). I just need to fix the onsite SEO and check for grammar mistakes once again and it's good to go. I wrote couple of extended product reviews, large homepage, 2 moneymaking articles (1000+ words) and 1 filler article which is very useful to readers and should convert eventually as well. I will allow robots to index it later today and I'll try to write 1 article for it every day from now on. It would be good to have 15-20 articles published on it before this month ends and then I'll just add more articles on dripfeed, so I can focus on developing and optimizing other sites.

I registered another domain - EMD, brand new. Products in this niche are cheap, but CPC is from $3 to $12 and competition (Adwords) is high. I don't know yet, but I might try to use Adsense on this one as well considering that average commission of a product in this niche is just about the same as average CPC according to Adwords. And I have about $50 sitting on my Adsense account for 2 years now.

Traffic is still dropping compared to December, but luckily my Site A (the strongest one) gained few positions in all search engines, so traffic is on the same level it was during the best days of December. It's also making more money on average than in December, despite lower conversion rates.

not sure what this is about entirely but i skimmed through and for the rates and $'s per day it seems as if some of you need to find a more popular profitable item. Maybe even market more to phish to your amazon page.

Man, this is about amazon affiliate program, not about selling products there.

and $40-$80 per day is way above the minimum for many countries (2x,3x,4x), you know, not the whole world is US.

Question: What do you think about many IMers struggling to earn 3$ or 5$ a day on Amazon while you are reaping around 40$ a day even in the slow January? What make it different like that?

I always publish more informational articles than reviews, but I sneak the affiliate links in all articles. That could be the advantage and it definitely helps to cover more keywords.

1. If you want to make $1k+ from a single site, you have to know everything about that niche, you need to know what people are interested in as consumers in that niche, so you can cover all the keywords possible. Sites that are ranking on pages 10+, have a decent homepage, couple of non-quality reviews and webmasters wait for them to rank on the toughest KW in the niche. I didn't know anything about the niche of my Site A ($1000+ per month) before I started it, now I can talk with professionals about this niche without a problem. It has 35% bounce rate. I believe average on MNS sites is 50%+. Some niches have high volume searches and they are easy to rank, but people who are cruising through those niches don't spend money on them. Getting to a level where you can really think as a consumer is a long journey, at least it was for me.

2. Not enough quality backlinks. I believe too many people focus on building as many links as they can, but the truth is that 20 high quality links can get you to the top in most niches. Problem is finding the opportunity for those 20 HQ links. Building your own PBN is a good start, but I was lucky enough to find a guy who offers exactly what I needed.

Update:

Nothing much to show. $40-$50 per day from 2 sites, haven't done any optimization these days, but things are going according to plan. I'm finishing some new sites this month and I'll start with optimization in February.

Conversions dropped for about 33%, but that's it, I'm getting 270 clicks per day, which is more than in December. Rankings of Site A have increased and it's safe to say that my site is dominating the niche among 20+ sites that try to rank for same KWs. I don't expect anything extraordinary to happen before March, so I'll be back when I get better news.

Update:

$13 yesterday, one of top 3 worst days in 2 months.

Things I hate about niche sites:

1. It takes too long for them to rank. My best site is dominating the niche finally after almost 6 months, although I already had 30 HQ articles and I have started with HQ link building after 2 months.

2. They aren't very stable. Although I haven't been penalized and I haven't even dropped in rankings these months, I see sites getting off the Google completely on a weekly basis. Constant algo changes and PBN hunt by anti-spam team are the most common reasons. As soon as Google changes its algorithm, you can be sure that MNS sites will be the first to suffer.

3. They require maintenance. Forget about ranking a site on the top and enjoying 100% hands-free income on long term. Sites need to be updated regularly.

Conclusion: I'm gonna get into other things as soon as I reach my Amazon goal.

Finding appropriate niche is crucial. Find a product that is cheap and people usually look for more than this 1 product. If I simplify it: When valves in an old car engine break, owners need to buy more than just new valves to make the engine work again. If you promote valves, you can be sure they will buy other products that are essential. Amazon takes care for the rest and it knows what to offer to people to make them convert better. "People who bought this, also bought...".

I have 15 indexed pages on a site that follows this method, I have sold 110 products and earned almost $200 with it this month so far, only with a few blog comments and a Wikipedia link. Site is 3 months old, domain is 4 years old. I haven't made a single link in the past 2 months, but I publish a fresh article every now and then (once per 3 weeks). It grew by itself in the last 30 days (traffic increased by 8x) and it's getting steady clicks and visits.

I only promote 20% of products that I have actually sold on this site, but other 80% are closely related. I have invested 10 hours of my time into it and I'm sure I'll reduce it to 5 hours with my next similar site.

One more important thing about these very small MNS is to make people click on ads. I have 70-80% CTR every day with a customized theme.

Thanks for that informative journey. I liked Expired domain and google suggestion parts much. I knew about them, but did not pay a lot of attention to it.

Now I am trying to get an expired domain for my new niche site and think, that it is a very important and hard part. I have the following criterias for it:
1) It must be related to my niche
2) Must be indexed in google.

What do you think about the second step? Would you go for example for a good PR1 domain, which is not indexed by google?

I have also found a pretty nice domain, but found out, that it was a chinese, so denied it. What do you think about that kind of domains?

Some of the domains are parked on sedo. Are they worth taking?
Also, some domains expired 1 months ago. What do you think about them? What are desireble ways of domain transfer for seo purposes or it does not matter?

so, to wrap-up:
What would you say about:
1) Chinese domains (.Com extension)
2) Sedo parked domains
3) Non indexed domains

I don't care about PR, never. I don't even care if it's an indexed domain or not. Majestic's metrics are the only ones that matter to me other than link profile. If a backlink profile is strong, replicate the linked URLs as well or redirect 404 pages to homepage to get the juice.

I might be wrong though.

404 page redirection is a good idea. But I am afraid without checking google indexation there is a risk of getting a penalized domain. What do you think about it?

Main KW has 30k monthly searches, but it's covered by authority sites. Luckily there are many KWs with 2k+ monthly searches and they mostly have very poor competition. If I compare SEO of competitor's site that is dominating this niche to my Site A, all metrics are in favor of mine.

For example, is it
A. Best type of KW. Best + Niche (like Best Dog Food),
B. the niche itself (Dog Food)
C. Prefix + niche (Nice Dog food)?

When Google's crawler finds a 404 page, it deletes it from index, it doesn't have to be penalized if it's not there.

Deindexed domain must not necessarily be penalized, but there is a risk of it. One BHW member used this method: He uploads an index.html file with small content and sents backlinks to domain. If it gets indexed within a week it is clean, but if not - goodbye penalized domain.

So, If I find domain with a good backlink profile I will register it anyway and test then. It is worth $10 risk.

Update:

$1250 all together in January, $200 worth of products not yet shipped, 8500 clicks on all Amazons, 4% conversion rate on US Amazon, 7% referral rate on US Amazon.

Only 2 of my sites made money in January. Now I have a bunch of new ones and I started building links on some of them. I will only work on my existing sites in February: I'll build more content and links (manually). I'll do some other stuff this month as well to fill up my Paypal account and after that, I'll spend all of my Paypal money on paid links in March. Deadline to 3k$ per month is in 4 months, need to work like a dog to get there.

My site with highest potential is new and already has 20 articles published and there's shitload of content that still needs to be covered. I will publish another 80+ articles in the next couple of months and I'll see where that goes.

Nothing more to add here, will be back in couple of weeks.

Update:

Site B lost 50% of its traffic and 66% of its earnings compared to December. Positions in SERP are the same, but I guess people only buy cheap junk in December when this site made me $300. And Adwords confirmed it. I'll be happy if it reaches $100 this month with poor 50 UV per day on average. Conversions are also much lower.

Sites C+ don't get traffic (up to 10UV per day). I haven't done much link building to them, I'll just put them on pause, let them age a little bit more and add some fresh articles published every now and then before I start with strong backlinks.

Site A is doing great right now, positions in SERP grew compared to December and it should make $1500 this month with 350 UV per day. Great conversions and everything, couldn't be better right now, it's a great niche. I'm thinking about starting another site in the same niche and making it even better. If I start creating it, I won't do any link building at all, I'm just gonna let it stay there and age, so if site A goes to hell, I'll be ready with a new one to make a quick replacement.

I made a few more sites in the past month and they are getting about 5 UV per day each, mostly through Bing and Yahoo. IDK why, but Bing and Yahoo always rank a site on top 3 pages way faster than Google. One site I particularly like has awesome potential and not really much competition in Google. I have already published 30 articles on it and today is the time for a few more. Sky is the limit in this one because main product has 10+ categories to cover and there are more than 200 products to promote in this niche.

What am I doing:

Right now I'm still in the process of making 2 new sites. 1 of them needs 2 more articles and another one needs 5 more. Hopefully they will go live tomorrow and then I'm done with making new sites for at least 2 months. I have enough of them to get me where I want.

I also started hiring proofreaders. I have somewhere around 60k words of content and I am happily investing money to fix all of my grammatical mistakes and errors. When I get another sale on another affiliate platform that I'm working on, I'll be able to withdraw the money and I'll buy 2 more shared servers and pay them for 1 year.

Earnings:

I'm making $60 per day on average this month, $50 per day just from my best site (A). Searches will continue to drop slowly until June, but the largest downfall (from December to January) is behind me. I have almost 4k$ sitting on my account, so another 6k$ comes in and I'll start withdrawing. I'm fully expecting to reach the desired goals this year and to close this thread successfully in May or June this year.
