Analytics Ref Spam

Hi,

I have had an increase in referer spam on one of my sites lately. Guess this maybe coming more common now as real time stats has ref field on the dashboard (on mine anyway). Does anybody know of a tool to get into the Analytics referer field (I do know there are tools for straight HTTP header referals out there and I am not 'referring' (geddit !?) to that) ?

I can't answer your question but I can tell you that I am seeing the same thing on one of my sites. It's been getting hit by what appears to be a large botnet spewing out referrer spam.

I only started counting yesterday but I've logged about 2300 unique IPs that have tried to spam my site. My logs show that this has been going on since at least the end of February. Sure has given me a generous list of IM websites to browse some day if I am bored!

Yes indeedy ! Am surprised more peeps have not chimed in on this though. Like I say, this stuff may be getting a bit of a resurgence due to the location of the filed in the RT stats...

Can't be that hard to do can it ?

Ok well in the end I did find something to do this but as with anything it costs some dough ! Don't think I'm allowed to post (newbie and all) the URL so I won't !
