actually I have a website, and I am planning to install ssl certificate in that website. But I already have a good backlink profile for this website. So after installing ssl certificate my http:// will get redirected to https:.// . But my current backlinks are made up with http only. Will this shift from http to https degrade my rankings because backlinks are made for http not for https? any expert advice please

Yeah I also think that but m a bit skeptical about this move

It's normal to be paranoid :) I can assure you it won't effect your rankings. Just test it first in an unpublish if you have one before updating your site.

I also think the same because in a natural backlink ( made by other than website owner) which usually people make to give references to other people, they don't care of https ot http they generally make a http link . But just want an expert advice

Most people usually just type in the domain name without http. I thought your question was would it effect your rankings if you somehow decided to change it. As far as that technical stuff goes i don't know anything so yes someone else can answer your question :)

Did you force web traffic to HTTPS through your .htaccess file? As long as the user gets to the correct https page from the SERPS you'll be fine. We transitioned some sites from http to https about a year ago. We saw a little dance (mostly in our favor) but if this is your main money site, you're making the right move. Having backlinks pointing to http will not matter.

I think it is possible by submitting your https:// URL with the redirect in Google console. I haven't done this before. But I think it works for you. Just try it mate.
Best of luck. ;)

HOw many backlinks do you have?I mean that completely depends because its tough call.

I have that site in wordpress and now every traffic is getting converted to https with the help of wordpress. So I guess there will be no problem I think
