AMD processor is Good?

Yes AMD's are good processors, they are value for money. Intel's processors are more expensive but offer very little more than the AMD's.

I just bought a HP G7 a month ago and it has an AMD Quad core CPU and AMD Graphics built-in and I must say I really like it. It does everything I want it to do.

I've never had over-heating issues before and I use my laptop everyday and everywhere.

I am aware AMD did have problems with over-heating issues with the earlier Sempron CPU chips but that was like 10 years ago, things do change :-).

Oh and AMD have more over clocking room compared to an intel chip! But I wouldn't over clock on a laptop lol.

I built 3 machines in Feb - for my Wife, Son and myself - and they were built around the AMD FX 8120 CPU. They were about $199 at the time but are a little less now.

Think about this: where else can you get the bang for the buck that you get with them and both the FX-8120 and FX-8150 even come with a quality heat sink so that saves you even more on an EIGHT core CPU. I run some games (nothing hardcore, just fluff like Diablo and Wow and soon to be playing Mech Warrior) and so far I run them on Ultimate (which is also because I do run a decent video card of course). I haven't found a need to over-clock because they simply haven't slowed me down at all. I run dual-monitors with 12gb of RAM and MANY windows open at a time at home... lol

Can you tell that I really like the performance I got for the low price with my AMD CPUs? lol

In the end it comes down to how much cash you got to spend - if you've got an unlimited budget, you can afford to buy a top end Intel. If money is a concern, then get AMD in my opinion.

I love AMD CPUs, but as for the laptop model itself - don't get a Pavilion - many Pavilion series laptops tend to overheat. I know because my business partner runs a PC repair shop and we get tons of dead Pavilions, especially dv6000. Your model is different, but I'd still say - stay away from these series.

For Pavilion the overheat problem is coming from the graphic card "Nvidia"

I have 2 pc with amd, one 6 cores, other 4 core. and i have no problem with overhiting or other problem like frezzing. I bouth for this cpus big and silent radiators fans.,

Intel I5 2500k.

People buying into the bajillion core thing is lulz worthy. Cores means absolute shit when the company has a bad design. Intel continuously beats out AMD in core performance. They also beat them in straight up speed, power consumption, efficiency and all others... AMD is quickly becoming irrelevant in CPUs when it comes to performance. All they got going is the # of cores to reel in consumers who don't do research.

Btw, 8 cores for you is lol. Nearly all games can't even use 4 cores, let alone 8. That performance you think you had? You don't have it. Cores and threading are really only used in VFX, 3D and other professional industries. Not games.

It's like Coke or Pepsi, they are very similar and run a computer repair shop and can tell you from Exp. I run an AMD X6 1055T for my personal desktop, it has 16 gig ram DDR3 and some fast HDs, I do lots of video editing with almost no lag. Its a rocket, and for the price you cant beat it.. But Intel has some killer chips too.. Just stay away from Celeron or on the AMD side Simperon.
Good luck my friend,
