Intel worked for me better everytime. For desktop computer or notebook. It depends ont the type of the CPU. Search for an alternative with Intel processor. Compare prices. And try to find out which processor is heating more. Chose the better combination of prices and heating ;-).

thanks everyone from my heart..Thanked everyone's post..because all your words are like gem to me..helping me to buy a good laptop..thanks everyone.came to a conclusion{From all your experiences} that AMD is better for me

I love AMD CPUs, but as for the laptop model itself - don't get a Pavilion - many Pavilion series laptops tend to overheat. I know because my business partner runs a PC repair shop and we get tons of dead Pavilions, especially dv6000. Your model is different, but I'd still say - stay away from these series.

I can vouch for that. Although my HP Pavilion isn't terrible it does overheat. I recently changed the thermal paste on the CPU and it's helped a lot but it still gets quite hot at times.

AMD is a good brand, but it all boils down to what processor you actually choose. What are your needs? gaming?
just watching movie and doing IM..I'am not a gamer..so my need is just soft use

If ur not a gamer then dont get a high end laptop.Just go for one with good ram and a decent procesor.I would also suggest u dont get a Pavilion...shit overheats like a muthafuka!!:firedevil

Can you explain how the CPU determines graphics quality?...
It's like saying "go with a v8 if you want cleaner windshields"
It is not based on assumption it was based on real graphics bench mark test (sorry i cannot give you the link to the bench mark as the reuslts it was given to us in printed form) i have been working on 3d graphic and vfx desing for years and all of us prefer AMD not because it is cheap but it could handle graphic much better
but intel has much more multy tasking capability when compare to AMD .
you could see an example here in gaming

AMD is very good, I own a AMD desktop PC and it's super awesome

Video Editing ( Very fast converting ) , Music and Games - NVIDIAGames, Office, BHW, Power, ( Computers with AMD somehow never become slow even when C drive is cluttered ) - AMD

if you are a core gamer then yes AMD is best.
i am using it and i am very happy with its performance

There are pavillon that uses intel processors i think it's i3/i5, Go with it!
Most of AMD processors are easily overheated you need 'liquid cooler' to balance it!

AMD??? Naahhhh... always with = overheating problem..

Ever consider its false?... I do 3d work as well, and Intel is always faster when placed up against an equally powerful AMD. The speedups for 3D and VFX come not from the CPU, but the GPU for GPGPU. Nvidia has the better drivers for supporting GPGPU so the floating point operations are anywhere from 20% faster to 4000%.

I would be worried about getting HP = horse poop btw! AMD is not so bad depending on which chip it is. I have the AMD Phenom II x6 with 6 cores and it great!

My Intel I7 920 (old school i7) which is at base clock (2.67ghz) is ~35% faster than my brothers AMD phenom 2 X6 clocked at 4.2ghz.
