thanks for this thread :D

its a bit long, so ive not yet read it all, but if you could answer a quick question then I wont have to :D

do you monetise existing content by picking relevant product, or do you pick the products first and create content round them?

also, if you have tried both ways, is there a big difference?

thanks

Niche - Products/Accessories -- Reviews / Articles (Information)

monetizing an existing site with Amazon - I don't do - every single thing I do in relation to a site is targeted towards getting a Sale -- so for me to use a site that is not 100% focused on the Sale is just throwing away valuable visitors/money and time.

cheers

I use Squidoo extensively and you're right, hard work and patience pays off. It took me a couple of years to really figure things out, but I now pull in around $500-600 a month from Squidoo earnings and then another $6-800 via Amazon direct links (just use the Text Module with HTML). It's not crazy money, but it can be done! It's also fairly passive, just have to do updates once in a while to maintain that level. Not to mention, I just sold some of my lenses for some decent cash, which was nice right before Christmas.

Update :

Project : Test 2 - Main Domain With Content - 10 simple Amazon Stores with no content just images and buy links on sub-domains.

Made about $90 in commissions - but Google has now de-indexed the domain/subdomains

Moral of the Story it's tough to try to cheat the system - you need to use Sites properly as the rest of the thread talks about.

How did you get on black friday sales Danny? My conversion rate went down but my traffic tripled. Didn't beat my best day unfortunately.

I don't do electronics so I am not going to get alot of extra traffic on the one day ... I had 27 Sales --> 9 was DVD Box Sets

so nothing special for me either.

Great thread. A few questions......

Where are you getting your traffic? SEO?

Are you ranking for your main keywords + review or are you ranking for long tails?

Do you use new or aged domains with pr when starting a new site?

Thanks

Seo .. and now just recently some Social Media via Bots

rankings are going up and down alot at the moment -- some sites have more content to rank others less
Magento rankings are in the toilet -- WP is way better.

all sites start on new domains.

Thanks, haven't had much success with Amazon, hopefully this will change things.

I saw in Sunny's Amazon Magento JV Thread comments from people who bought the sites - that they were seeing virtually no traffic and sales.

They probably should have read my thread and seen from my comments how much these sites are under-performing .... all I can say is WP is so much easier to set everything up correctly and use plugins - it is so much easier to rank.

Anyway I will still keep playing with the Magento Sites and see if I can find an answer.

-- Also got some really crappy PM's today.

I am not joining people on Skype explaining from A -> Z what to do - how to do it - pick your niche / pick your domains etc etc

This is not a Sales Thead - this is how I make money at Amazon -- > and you can too - if you stop making excuses as to why you can't do it -- and start at least trying - so you can develop some skills ...... some people here on BHW have to realize there is no push button money machine ... this is work...... end of rant :) .. good hunting.

Indeed, there's definitely a learning curve when making a successful affiliate site, but the only way to truly learn is to get your feet wet and start experimenting with keywords, themes, and plugins. After following Danny for a while, I definitely consider him a high influencer among the amazon BHW community. I also have mutual respect for LBrown. Does anyone follow anyone else here on BHW, and who do you look up to for affiliate advice?

Danny thanks for the insight , But i am a bit confused here are you making review site using wp or doing a site that really sells stuff using magneto e commerce site. could you please outline the backlinks strategy for your site
and one more are you using micro niche site or generic site eg:- "cannon camera model number 123 .COm" or generic site like "good cannon camera.Com"

Thanks

i see other guy here to put his amazon magento shop to google shopping (i mean listing there), so they get a lot of traffic and sales too

Summary of my Amazon Experiences to Date :

** What I know Works -- Using your own hosted wordpress site - configured correctly and with some premium plugins. the theme should be an advanced theme with sliders etc to make it nice for the reader and organized. you should have articles / reviews / images and your affiliate links should be in all information ... amazon links should be made no-follow.

once you have chosen a niche - selected the products and accessories - made the content or bought it - packaged it altogether and got your site built -- then you need to do you Seo - slowly at first. After 2-3 months you should start seeing consistent results

** What Is Still Under Debate -- Social Networks and Amazon -- I know this works during shopping seasons but not the rest of the year - because you need people to buy in 24 hours so I put it into the under debate category -- I would rather build a site more for Seo than this -- but I included it because some people are more adept at Social Traffic than me.

** What Has Failed For Me -- Magento Sites -- they just don't seem to be able to rank or sell as easy as a WP Site - some of it has to do with when people see a Magento site they are thinking I'm spending money where on a WP Site they are getting the info they want - click some links get the cookie and it is less invasive to them .. also Magento so far has proven it hard to rank with.

One Domain with Subdomain Stores -- yes it made some money but when it got deindexed it became worthless for the future.

Summary : for long term Amazon income nothing can beat quality unique content solving people's problems presented in a professional manner. the other stuff is a distraction to me to be honest and I am going back to where I am successful.

Also I hope people can realize what this thread is : it's exactly what I do and what I use to generate Sales -- what it is not -- is a hand holding session -- it's taken me 1.5 years of experimenting and trying things to get to where it is now ... I am giving you the short cuts that I wish I had - and saved all the experimentation $$ I used.

Good Hunting Today.

Yes I had seen that thread about Google Shopping and your Store -- however I was under the impression it had to be manually reviewed first and it was quite technical to get it all working properly in the first place .. something that was highly profitable in the past and less profitable now.

It's probably a little technical for me to consider as you need to setup a bunch of redirects etc to hide everything till the Store is approved ... anyway if your more proficient in that type of thing -- then that could be something for you to do.

best of luck.

congrats...keep it up. Let us know how it goes or how you blow it up. Great to hear, I'm a noob and I'm trying to do this IM thing to make some extra $, I still have the "job job" but would love to make 300 a day!

Awesome !

Will research and follow your tips to build an amazon site :)

Thanks! keep inspire us with new threads / reports of your Amazon earnings :)

Great thread. Thanks for sharing your experiences danny.

I have a question. I want to include the brand name in my domain. for example, Sonyledtvreviews. Would this cause problems? I have a niche but want to include the brand name in the domain name (which is available)

thanks all, hoe to share sometime soon once i get started.

I would stay away from using brand names in the domain name. I have done it in the past and have been busted a few times. What happens is you receive a Cease and Desist(C&D) letter from an actual lawyer who represents the brand and you have to forfeit the domain. They will take the domain and you will not be reimbursed. Some companies care about this some don't but the risk isn't really worth it. It'd be terrible to have a brand domain making money only to have it wiped out by a lawyer out of nowhere. You usually see these domains available as most internet marketers know to stay away from them. But to each his own. All the best, Boaty
