Update : Tests

1. Built Squidoo Lense - made 20 Social Bookmarks - now Number 11 for main keyword -- adding to what I already have for this keyword.

2. New Project - 1 Domain - 10 subdomains -- built 5 sites this week - and today starting seeing Google Search Traffic Show up - haven't started working on the main domain which will have all the content yet... will check if any sales tomorrow from these sites.

cheers.

Nice to see updates Danny. I have built a few lenses myself during the past few days. I'm wondering, are you trying to redirect squidoo lense traffic to your own sites? Or directly include your amazon affiliate links on the squidoo lense itself?

danny thanks for this great thread. mind if i ask what kind of seo procedure you are following after making a new site. thanks !

1. earnings for me rise and fall depending on whether people buy accessories or the main product -- I tend to range between $30 and $150 but every so often you get a wipeout day .. unavoidable I guess.

2. squidoo really just a test - but it has my links and a link to my site -- really just wanted to see whether I could rank it page 1 or not

3. seo stuff I have already written alot on that including what I would do in the first 3 months of a new site - so you can just scroll back and find that.

Overall my earnings would be $80 - $250 a day if my Magento Sites sold anything -- they are really holding me back at the moment .... this is based on what I have now ... and am testing bits and pieces to see how well other types of things work.

cheers

I have some squidoo lenses that make sales on amazon but squidoo does take a cut of it...about 50% of what you normally would earn from amazon directly

Well done, you'll find that its not too hard to expand when you've taken the first few steps right. Good luck!

You can use your direct Affiliate links instead of the Squidoo Amazon Module. You just have to replicate their Module via CSS and HTML.

Sorry to not post updates to my thread ... But the hurricane destroyed my area ... There is no power, water or gas for the car ... And food is limited ... They only yesterday started trying to work on getting power restored .. Which will take another 7/10 days. .. So I will update the thread when I am able .. Luckily got to access bhw via phone but can't really spare the charge for Internet as its hard to get it recharged .... Anyway wish everyone success and be back soon .... Cheers.

Congratz on your success! Keep going and make big money $$ :)

Thank you for your effort, I wish you all luck, success, and hope things go Ok fast after the hurricane.

Thanks Guys - its been brutal but thankfully finally got some power back -- its tough everyday to go spend 5-6 hours a day trying to recharge your phone at whole foods running on a generator when there are 500 other people trying to do the same thing ... Red Cross ?? haven't seen them would never donate to them again.

As far as my Amazon business goes this is what I see after 7-8 days of not touching anything --- you MUST : 1. add fresh content 2. have some sort of consistent link strategy 3. make sure to have everything working - some of my sites have blank images which sucks.

my traffic is down about 60% and because I have client work to catch up on - it's going to take a few days before I can go into each site and add stuff and fix up some of the simple mistakes.

So this is my plan to get back to where I was :

a. buy some more content
b. set up/submit some : articles / bookmarks / press releases / submit some pdf's
c. fix images .. check main products for new accessories or hot related products
d. post some tweets about my sites
e. pin some images to Pinterest with links to my sites
f. improve tracking
g. get a few more squidoo lenses

H. FIGURE OUT WTF IS UP WITH MAGENTO --- LOL these sites are starting to irritate me.

OK got work to do so will check back in a few days with some results/updates.

As you are scaling up, you should consider using OnlyWire with WP, they have a plugin that syndicates your content across social networks, and you don't have to do anything. You can do some retweets or so, but this will get it out there for sure.

When I started this thread I was targeting $2000-$3000 a month doing as little as possible as a side income
now I am targeting $5000-$10000 a month by making things more advanced than they ever were.

this project consists of 32 WP Blogs 13 Magento Stores - and now I have started 10 more WP Sites as sub-domains under one main brand ... additionally I made 5 squidoo lenses pointing back to 5 of the sites also as a test.

however as I mentioned above - what I saw after being offline for 8 days was that mistakes came onto the sites - things weren't updated and no links were built -- and Google traffic dropped ..... so my conclusion to this was make sure that you schedule some activity for your site even if it's automated -- so Pinterest / Articles / Bookmarks -- and just keep adding articles/reviews/pictures to the sites to keep Google's interest because it does seem they have a very short attention span for sites at present.

I have to attend to client sites at the moment so I just don't know which is the faster way to grab the traffic back but I am going to let you know when I have set up a bunch of stuff and see what works best ... as I have plenty of sites to test different methods on -- and when I see results I can do the same across the board.

Anyway I hope everyone finds some success today -- time for work --- all the best - cheers.

A couple PM's asked same thing - choosing Domain Names
personally I try to narrow it down to something specific

Say I am trying to sell Levi Jeans on my site instead of just making a site directly targeting general levi jeans you find
something people want to know before they buy jeans and make a site about that.

how long do they last - how to wash jeans properly - where are the best prices - best jeans for kids
best jeans for work - designer jeans vs levi jeans - best jeans for hot weather

(i just made these up obviously)

you just have to find something that gives you an opening and lets you find people that are seriously interested in
jeans and obviously buying jeans -- then just try to make your site look nice - so they will click your affiliate links

text links / image links or buttons

but this is work you have to do - find something you know about - make a site - test it with traffic - test some more
when you find a model that works/makes sales ----> then scale it.

Amazon is work on the beginning there is nothing you can do to change that -- the only thing you can do is scale and outsource
once you have found what makes you money.

Hi Dan, I haven't read your complete thread due to want of time.

Can you please tell how do you link the amazon affiliate links on your site.

Do you cloak them, shorten them or something else.

Also, do you use any sort of disclaimer below every post mentioning your site is an affiliate to Amazon?

Thanks

those are in the thread already obviously

I no follow links via plugin - you can cloak whatever you like just don't violate TOS

Screenshots are in the thread - look at post #214 for example that was $106 day - and I posted others as well - you just got to browse through

cheers.

Very nice job. I hope it works for you in the future again good. For me ist amazon also one of the best programms. An all my site it works very well.

I've been trying the amazon + youtube method for 2 weeks now with no success. do you think I should keep at it or is it a waste of time ?
