Amazon skimming?

Well, I had issues this month on 09.11.2017 (Thursday - only two items sold, both ~$400, but no cheaper items with them, usually is vice versa) and today (Sunday, 12.11.2017), between 12:00 and 19:00 - this 'black hole' is often reported by affiliates; well, it has happen to me.

I will download later my reports for this month and check sold items in period of 12:00 - 19:00 every day ...

skimlinks? I will check that, thanks ...

Also, I will check also will I break any TOS if I combine for example, both Amazon and Walmart (Ebay, Target, New Egg etc) affiliate links on the same page - if somebody already knows the answer, please, feel free to express yourself :)

for example: 'comapre price of <item name> on Amazon and Walmart' where both Amazon and Walmart are affiliate links ....

I've been an amazon affiliate for a few years now and things have been alright till this September. My earnings plunged 50% overnight as my big ticket items which i used to sell at least one each day totally disappeared. Now i'm glad if i sell one a week.

I read the official thread about this regularly but can't post over there for some reason. Anyway, i discussed this with a few other affiliates and not everyone is affected. Those in consumer electronics (my niche) have all seen a drop while the guy promoting books hasn't.
 
I may have found out at least part of the reason for the drops we are experiencing...

When I am signed into Amazon and do a search for X I will see the price for the item when on the product page and then directly below the price I will See "Get $50 off instantly: Pay nothing upon approval for the Amazon Rewards Visa Card."

Lol, I think most people would apply for the card so that they can get something that costs $50 for free or $50 off a higher ticket purchase.

I am guessing that our affiliate ID is overridden by the cobrandcard (I couldn't see a standard associate ID in the tag, but this would make sense of what has been happening lately) rewards card.

Spread the news and love people...Amazon wants your traffic, but not your loyalty ;-)

Ps I may well be wrong and please chime in with your observations/ views.

Isn't all about the cookie? I don't know.. there's definitely something going on.
 
The people posting on the official Amazon affiliate forum are pretty much stupid and not willing to accept the fact that there may be other factors involved. And they'll attack (and attack they will) anyone who doesn't agree with them and will do anything just to prove themselves right. They start threads here and there without any traction, that should tell you something. If there was an issue with 'Amazon skimming' the internet would be fuming left and right. Unfortunately, this is not the case ...

I have moved on, but lesson learned... Multiple income streams are the way to go ;-)
 
Hi everyone, I'm completely new to amazon. I wanna ask you guys
does amazon offer revenue share like if a visitor use my link to make an account then they by items. I will get commissions for all that items or I have to build my own website. thank you
 
I believe there was a change in how it determines a sale. If a customer goes directly to the product, adds to cart and checks out, you are assigned the commission for that product based on its category. If you go to a product, then decide to buy another product instead, your commission drops.
 
I think that that change was only for Amazon stores in Europe (amazon.co.uk - only 1.5% for items not directly linked by affiliate links). But, I wouldn't be too surprised if they make commision change for Amazon US in near future ...

Walmart at the moment has 4% (last time I checked), shareasale.com has broad range of merchants etc.

Remember guys (and ladies): Never put all your eggs in just one basket, never spread yourself too thin, never invest what you can't lose! ;)
