Hi all,

I've been doing a gig using Amazon's API and I have a database of about 1.5 Million "Top Selling" products for most Amazon categories for the past few months.

The database contains everything from Title, Description, MPN, GTIN, Brand, etc. Does not contain Reviews.

If I REALLY work at it, I can probably get all 80 Million + Amazon products.

My question to you all : How much do you think something like this would be worth?

I only ask because I've never sold anything before, and I've never seen a Product Database sold before either, so I'm not sure what it'd be worth..

This is NOT a Pre-Sale Thread. Just have some honest questions is all.

Thanks all!

Dunno. I'd pay 50 for a copy though.

Hey, thanks for your opinion mate :)

Question for you / everyone else: Regardless of price, if you were to purchase something like this:

1. Do you want it in a CSV, or what type of file/structure ?
2. If it is in a .CSV /Tab Delim type file, how many rows do you want per file? (Cap at 1,000,000 ? or what?)

I would divide it to product categories and sell this on that way

I do amazon.

but in all reality, I would not purchase the list.

I do not really see the benefit to it.
That data gets old really quick. next month those stats won't hold.

I am just being honest.
Unless I am missing something.

Yeah I'm not sure how anyone would use it.

Yeah.

@OP - the best way to sell this would be to set up a paid membership site. Then you can provide an updated list to your members on a regular schedule. You could also add tips and tricks on how to market amazon products, monthly top picks, etc.

Yeah.

+1 to this. Not only do you provide a better service, you also get recurring income.

Make a bot that checks monthly searches (on google) and competition for each keyword. Should be some easy ones in there - makes sites for them and you win :)

Thanks for all the comments!

As far as using the data... There's quite a few different ways I'd personally use the data.

1. Sell products on Shopzilla / Shopping Sites. (Obviously you'd have to filter the products to find the highest priced, calculate click expenses, etc)
2. Post all products on a website, do some onpage/offpage SEO and get traffic from all of the longtail keywords.
3. Use the data to target products with only specific keywords of a TLD for the keyword that you are targeting. (IE, if you have a site for Harry Potter, only put up Harry Potter items).

As far as doing a "Membership" type of deal: That's unfortunately out of the question. Amazon's recent changes to their API makes me unable to constantly pull ONLY the "TOP SELLERS", like I was able to before. It's changed to the point where I have 1.5 MIllion good data, but can't keep it updated. BUT, the nice thing is that I think I might be able to create a script that pulls from the API based on amazon ASIN's.... if I can achieve this, I'd be able to pull 80 Million Items + .

Hmm... Still brainstorming :)

if you could format it as a csv for bulk uploading to sell on amazon i would buy it

are you able to categorize it and export say 1000 items of beauty, 1000 items of home care, etc.? I'd be interested in a CSV list of this sort and I can give you the format I need it in with the proper CSV fields. I have a template I need matched with Amazon catalog products.

I'd be interested in a product list from a specific category. PM me your email address if you're interested. I don't have enough posts to PM yet.
