    Hello,
My name is Shilrey and I was following this forum for a few months now but never took any action. Many believe knowledge is power, but in my case, all the information I've read on this awesome forum put me in "analysis paralysis" overload mode..lol My head is seriously spinning from all different strategies on SEO, methods etc. So, I am going to break away, stop reading and finally take some serious action. Currently, I am making my income online as a contractor (about 30hrs/week as research analyst/va/ translator type of jobs) - It was my first step to get away from 9 to 5 job.

I am starting this thread to keep myself focused, keep track of my progress, exchange some ideas or maybe get some tips to help with my noobiness:). I found some journey threads very helpful and I hope this thread may end up being helpful too down the road. Many journey threads seem to die after few days. I am committed to updating this thread frequently and working on my progress every day. I will not stop.. I am not going to put a specific number for my end goal. If I can figure out how to make $100/a day, it means I can make 10 times more by multiplying whatever works. I guess making $100/a day is a good place to start.

Thanks to a couple of recent great threads (Danny, Maecenas and Whitepassion) I decided to start with Amazon sites (I think it's beginner's friendly method). I would also like to start a membership ppd site (I identified the need and the target audience in a good niche) but I am going to put it on the back-burner for now and concentrate on Amazon only. The last few days I was studying on keyword research and selecting a niche. I picked the domain name (non-EMD but relative to the niche).

    The basic approach

-My focus will be primary on quantity. I will be generating many unique product articles targeting low competition long tail keywords. The local search may be as low as 500-1000, but I figured if I have a bunch of pages it will bring good number of visitors overall and all keywords will be buyer keywords.
-I will NOT be writing long 1000 word articles as some recommend. The length will be around 400-500 but all unique. I may be embedding YouTube videos too.
The first phase is testing the niche. If I see the niche is good I will keep adding pages and hopefully build authority. I will be adding more websites over time.
    - Making sure all pages have good on page optimization
    - multi-tired consistent link building (web 2.0, high pr booksmarks, article links, pdf links and social signals)
    -diverse anchor text distribution (30/30/40)
Long term goal for my SEO efforts- want to start working on building high pr blog network. I am also not sure what to do about tier 2 and 3 back linking (finding a provider, shared vps or investing in soft? will decide later)

    Day 1
    • Purchased domain name - $10
    • Bought new web hosting plan - $7/mo
    • Selected premium clean WP theme
    • installed plugins and created bs pages (about page, contact page, privacy policy, disclaimer and terms of service page).
    • created the first product page - selected the layout that allows to have as much info above the fold and "in your face" amazon link (will be testing buttons and contextual links when I will start getting traffic). I am going to keep the number of affiliate links to 2-3 max per page. I am thinking of adding one CPA banner on each page in the header as the offer is very relevant to my niche. I don't think it will look spammy if it's in the header and not too flashy.

    Goal for tomorrow
    • build minimum 6 pages a day (5 product+1 kw specific)
    • create social profiles
    • find fiverr provider for fb, twitter social signals
All content on the main website will be unique. Due to limited budget I will be writing everything myself for now.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Good luck with this, and i'll be watching this thread carefully. Amazon and adsense where how I made money when I first started and although i'm trying to focus on offline, and info products now, amazon is still amazing for affiliate income.

Wish you luck! Bookmarked the thread to follow your success.
If you can, create your own videos about the products and make them popular on YT with enhancedviews.

Thank you all for support! I had a couple of really busy days as a contractor and didn't have a chance to work on my project.

Today was a catch up day. Google already indexed my site. I wrote and published 6 new articles and created social profiles. I made sure all pages are optimized and did 10 high pr social bookmarks for each page for faster indexing. I have decided to try the following cycle: week one - creating content (min 5-7 pages a day); week 2 - SEO for the content created previous week (Build 10 links a day from 2.0s, pdf, articles etc). I am also going to try Cash's social media blueprint for product pages. I just need to figure out how to use ifttt:)
sysfailure - I am definitely going to incorporate Youtube into my SEO strategy. I am not sure if it can actually bring extra traffic as I am not going to create high quality videos. I was thinking about just creating simple animoto snippets. Hm.. now thinking about it, maybe it would be worthwhile making voice-over reviews with some photos with camtasia. I will give it a go tomorrow and create some videos for the products I already published.

    Goal for tomorrow:
    -publish 5-7 new pages
    -make some product review videos
-figure out how to set up ifttt recipes (it seems like a great way to automate some of SEOs)
    Cheers!

Davie - I am using Woo Canvas theme. I selected it because of it's simple clean layout, many built in plugins and short-codes. However, I struggled with making it look like I wanted to. I spend the whole day designing the template for product page and moving things around. So I am not sure if I will be using it for other websites I am planning to build. But again, I have little exp in web design and wp.

    - be careful with this. Sending likes, tweets... to the page without or with little traffic call google for fake activity. I am on 99% sure for this! In the normal sites 1000likes means ~1000visitors (I see the page before like it) and 1000likes with 1-2 visitors will kick your site from the game for long time or at least will hit the radar with "this is not good man - pay attention in the future".

Naskootbg - thank you for advise! That's what I've been worried about too, that's why I haven't done it yet. I found a couple of providers who offer "real likes" drip-fed - about 50-100 over a week. I seriously doubt they are "real" but I am thinking 50-100 likes/followers over a week will not flag me. My Twitter and fb pages right now look pathetic with 0 followers.

    Thank you for +rep :)

    Quick update:
    -15 unique articles published
-I have set up authorship for the website
-created 5 videos for top products
-set up some recipes in ifttt for product page promotions (work in progress - I am going to add much more recipes)
-created a bunch of social accounts for future promotions (pinterest, stumble etc etc)

    Next:
I've read some cool articles about creating content by curating high quality UT videos. I think it can work great with Amazon (who likes to read boring 1000 words reviews? Give me video anytime). I am going to create some content with that idea in mind targeting specific keywords. I have also selected a second niche. I am going to get domain and start building content by the end of this week.

All right.. after taking massive action last week and working on my first Amazon site I realized one thing:
..creating quality content can be hard and very time consuming

I've spent many hours writing 15 pages (which is below my target for a week) and I am still not happy with the quality of my reviews. I have never been a great writer. I wish I could outsource it and hopefully, one day, that's exactly what I am going to do.

But for now, I would like to streamline the process and automate it as much as possible.
I would like to generate at least 5-7 websites per month with 20+ pages each. But writing so much content may be bad for my health and sanity:).
So, I am going to test few things.
Instead of writing full review articles, I will be curating good quality reviews from authority sites. As an example, for product A I make my own commentary, create a couple of quotes with key information from authority sites in the niche (I will be including attribution), embedding a relevant good video from YouTube and summarizing the product review in my own words. 50%+ of text will be my own unique content.
It will be more reporting style than selling which will be much easier to write for me (it's more my style - I like to do research, summarize information in a friendly factual manner). I've seen a couple of sites that use this strategy very well and capitalize on authority of other sites for social proof.
I am going to test a couple of wp plugins that can really speed up source selections and curation.

My only concern is how it going to reflect on SEO due to some duplicate content. But, I am targeting low competition long tails. Attribution to authority sites may help too with providing good relevance signals. Videos and good quality content should help with bounce rate and time spent on page.I saw many curation type of sites rank well in google.
So, this is what I am going to do next week with my next site as a test.
I am also going to spend much more time on social media and YT than I initially planned.
