My name is Shilrey and I was following this forum for a few months now but never took any action. Many believe knowledge is power, but in my case, all the information I've read on this awesome forum put me in "analysis paralysis" overload mode..lol My head is seriously spinning from all different strategies on SEO, methods etc. So, I am going to break away, stop reading and finally take some serious action. Currently, I am making my income online as a contractor (about 30hrs/week as research analyst/va/ translator type of jobs) - It was my first step to get away from 9 to 5 job.
I am starting this thread to keep myself focused, keep track of my progress, exchange some ideas or maybe get some tips to help with my noobiness
. I found some journey threads very helpful and I hope this thread may end up being helpful too down the road. Many journey threads seem to die after few days. I am committed to updating this thread frequently and working on my progress every day. I will not stop.. I am not going to put a specific number for my end goal. If I can figure out how to make $100/a day, it means I can make 10 times more by multiplying whatever works. I guess making $100/a day is a good place to start.
Thanks to a couple of recent great threads (Danny, Maecenas and Whitepassion) I decided to start with Amazon sites (I think it's beginner's friendly method). I would also like to start a membership ppd site (I identified the need and the target audience in a good niche) but I am going to put it on the back-burner for now and concentrate on Amazon only. The last few days I was studying on keyword research and selecting a niche. I picked the domain name (non-EMD but relative to the niche).
The basic approach
-My focus will be primary on quantity. I will be generating many unique product articles targeting low competition long tail keywords. The local search may be as low as 500-1000, but I figured if I have a bunch of pages it will bring good number of visitors overall and all keywords will be buyer keywords.
-I will NOT be writing long 1000 word articles as some recommend. The length will be around 400-500 but all unique. I may be embedding YouTube videos too.
The first phase is testing the niche. If I see the niche is good I will keep adding pages and hopefully build authority. I will be adding more websites over time.
- Making sure all pages have good on page optimization
- multi-tired consistent link building (web 2.0, high pr booksmarks, article links, pdf links and social signals)
-diverse anchor text distribution (30/30/40)
Long term goal for my SEO efforts- want to start working on building high pr blog network. I am also not sure what to do about tier 2 and 3 back linking (finding a provider, shared vps or investing in soft? will decide later)

Day 1
- Purchased domain name - $10
- Bought new web hosting plan - $7/mo
- Selected premium clean WP theme
- installed plugins and created bs pages (about page, contact page, privacy policy, disclaimer and terms of service page).
- created the first product page - selected the layout that allows to have as much info above the fold and "in your face" amazon link (will be testing buttons and contextual links when I will start getting traffic). I am going to keep the number of affiliate links to 2-3 max per page. I am thinking of adding one CPA banner on each page in the header as the offer is very relevant to my niche. I don't think it will look spammy if it's in the header and not too flashy.
Goal for tomorrow
- build minimum 6 pages a day (5 product+1 kw specific)
- create social profiles
- find fiverr provider for fb, twitter social signals
