Amazon is shockingly awful

I am not sure, but I know that they are looking for people who fraud. Not saying that you are in any way but they are just trying to protect themselves.

Strange. As a customer, I've never had issues with Amazon.

Your one issue with Amazon does not likely reflect them as "shockingly awful". You have a new account, shipped a largely stolen/easy to sell product (iPad) and don't have a physical address. I would be fishy as well. I can almost guarantee nobody steals book so that one didn't trigger anything but the iPad did.

Ship to your house where your CC info matches your billing info and I doubt you'll have any issues.

But i am not home all the time!! I thought that is why amazon lockers were made? For people who are usually out and no home during delivery times..

It's not your fault, but you do see how if someone wanted to use a fake CC to buy an iPad they would do exactly what you did? I'm sure they'll sort it out, their support has always been excellent for me.

Don't take it personally, you just triggered some criteria as has already been mentioned. Since you aren't committing fraud (like what their system is trying to prevent via the criteria you triggered) you'll be fine.

Never had an issue. And I've gotten hundreds of things off of Amazon. That being said, I've only bought from highly rated sellers.

They are not awful, they are just protecting their own service and themselves.

This is life. Don't whine about it and find a way to make it work.

I would advise you stick to their rules, you won't run into problems. :)

It sucks and is inconvenient but it happens all the time. I worked for a company that sold a LOT of items through Amazon. The items were expensive and there was always some fraud. Amazon had their own fraud detection software that would flag orders based on various criteria for manual review. Legitimate customers called, live chatted, and emailed all the time trying to figure out what was going on after talking with Amazon customer service.

A lot of times the agent you speak with really has no clue why you were flagged. It could be because of a different address being used or even past issues with a similar mailing address (customers claiming items are not being received). The best thing to do is wait it out then reorder with home delivery and plan to be home when the items are delivered. I know you are frustrated because you really wanted your order, but imagine how you would feel if Amazon was less diligent and someone was able to use your information to receive a fraudulent order.

That sucks man. I've never heard of Amazon banning a buyer account and I've shipped to about 10 different addresses in 2 different countries (buying gifts for family members).

Did you ever get your hassle resolved?

You should try contacting amazon email support. It has always been great/good for me.
