Im promoting physical products at this time and looking for the better program. All things being equal and promoting the same product, which is the better program in terms of payout ?

I personally use Amazon Associates, but only for the simply reason that I wasn't accepted into EPN.

I'm unable to judge which is better, but I'm having a fantastic experience with Amazon Associates - and I would recommend it to anyone who is promoting individual products because, if my research proves me right and based on my payout experience, they pay a hell of a lot simply because the prices of their products tends to be a bit more expensive.

In fact, I would recommend Amazon Associates over AdSense if your site is product based.

Hope that helps.
Lynn. :)

Yea I definitely agree with LyNHS. Amazon Associates pays a lot more because their products are usually more expensive. However it all just boils down to personal preference.

Im in the exact same boat. I have Amazon Associates and promoting with them, but I dont know if I just need to try harder if its worth it. Ebay has some products that I know I can make money with and Amazon has some photos missing which can hinder conversion rates. Im currently ranking in the SERPs for my keywords and then redirecting to an Amazon store.

Whats method is converting for you?

I Planned on using a mix of both AA and EPN on my auto blogs. However, just like LyNHS I wasn't accepted into EPN. I'm wondering if I was denied because I already had AA postings on the blog???

My Traffic mainly comes from Social Networking Sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube Vids etc, and paid Advertising such as Adwords. I am trying to rank in the organic SERPS, but my Keywords are extremely competitive - however I'm not going to give up; someone's got to get the top spot ;) ... and I'm determined to make sure it'll be me!

I also have a mailing list (single opt-in) that I get quite a few subscribers added to per day from my site - that has to be the biggest conversion I'm experiencing without doubt.

:)

Knowing how stringent eBay is about everything else it could be. I noticed they also asked for business information during signup. I stopped creating my account after that. Maybe ill come back around and sign up once Amazon sales pickup and I need a tax id #

Nice. Do you have a widget on the side or are you doing popups ?

amazon is great but 60 day payment method sucks. plus 24 hour cookie only.

i can tell you that EPN is on its way out. finally after so many years, ebay has changed its link structure to be more seo friendly so they can out rank all their affiliates in the se's. plus they play too many games with people and you can never be sure you will get paid. i put a lot of work into epn and was banned for low quality yet my epc was like $13 at the time. so they can kiss my ass.

that sounds about right for ebay. i formally used them heavy when i was shipping heavy until they got alittle ban crazy.

i read their program on how they do their payouts on the site...it look likes its meant to scare affiliates off. they videos make sense, the details in calculating your earnings are another story

I use Amazon because eBay change their rules a lot! they can banned you in a second without hesitation or explanation.

I know some guys that work very hard, white hat and make a good income on eBay, then, banned, all their work go to hell.

I believe I have the right conclusion, you are promoting other peoples products for a commission.

Amazon will not allow affiliates in some states like mine, Colorado, because of tax disputes with recent state laws passed. So they canceled my affiliate status. You could probably get around this by setting up a Corp or LLC in another state.

Ebay use to pay a bounty (I think it was $25) on all new people that you helped join eBay and they bid on an item. They then changed things and started grading the people you had joining and adjusted your bounty accordingly. So, if your people did not buy much, your bounty was a lot less. They still pay a small commission on sales that you help bring about.

My impression is that stuff from Amazon has a better reputation than the same stuff from eBay. When you buy purchase from the Amazon site, you believe that Amazon will stand behind it. When you purchase from eBay, you don't really know who you are buying from, somebody operating from his basement or a big corporation.

On Amazon, most people don't know that most of the stuff that is not books is from an outside vendor, except for Zappos Shoes (Amazon bought them).

I found a really cool plugin called "Reviewazon" for about $100 that turns a basic post into an amazon review on your blog. Ive been creating mine from scratch using the same format but this looks like a good alternative. This would be ideal rolling into the holiday season

I have ebay and Amazon on 2 very small blogs of mine, both get around 80 visits a day and I'm making an average of $40 a month with Amazon and $40 with ebay, I've had this setup running about 2 years now, though ebay hasn't always been the way it is now.

With Amazon I get around 100 clicks a day with 1 sale, small ticket items mostly, though I do get the occasional big screen T.V and PS3.

With ebay I get around 20 clicks a day with an average of 20 winning bids a month, which keeps my EPC pretty hefty.

Time to upscale I think.

EPN is going downhill.. Last 2 months I was making $200+,,, now this month I havent made $20.. I would bother with it. It isnt worth it anymore.

That IS a drastic drop, but in that short of a time frame, has anything else changed other than EPN suddenly "no longer being worth it"? Please give a little more info as to the reason this happened if you blame the program you are promoting instead of the promoter. Did they change the TOS (I know they often do) in a way that directly affected your earnings? Did they refuse you a large portion of your conversions this month due to not being under the wire using a BH tactic?

I agree that often times a program with seem to shoot you in the head, or even themselves in the foot in the process, but If I believed the hype online, all programs are shit, except the one I want to be your upline in whether as my paying client, customer, or affiliate.

I go with EPN because you will get better conversion than Amazon. But it is very difficult to get an account from eBay.
From my exp if I have 100 clicks I used to avg 15 to 20 cents CPC. But I Amazon sometimes only I used to get conversion not on dally bases but in eBay converts daily
