Hi guys,

I jumped onto the amazon affiliate train and have some questions. Amazon doesn't like traffic from social media sites, but we all want to put our links there. If I set up a legit review site and put some links there, this should be fine.

Could I use my review page as referrer for my social media traffic? The only problem I could imagine is the special product id within the amazon link. Will I get in trouble if the id is not on my page?

Example: I promote red shoes on social media and promote yellow shoes on my legit website. And now the referrer for red shoes is my legit site.

Does amazon care?

All my amazon links are cloaked just like you mentioned, redirecting back to review site. Never had any problems myself. But I get a good mix of whitehat / organic traffic as well.

No, there won't be any problem if you send visitors from a review blog. Just don't make astronomic numbers.
Are you using Google Product method ?

Hard to say what Amazon really wants.. They are known for randomly banning affiliates and sending you an email from section 423 paragraph 16 line 2 of their TOS saying what you are doing is wrong. They even updated their TOS saying that if you do not fully disclaim and make it visibly aware that you are an affiliate they can penalize you.

BUT

to answer your question.. I would definitely direct traffic from your Social Media to your site, then from their maybe send it to a cloaked link or a 301 with your link to the Amazon site. I think you will be safe with that. Do not forget that you can also send them an email and ask if what you are doing is acceptable. They typically respond pretty quickly and tell you what you are doing is wrong, but it is def worth an email out.

No, I was into it for a moment but building a web shop for my country is a very risky thing as you can get admonished for nearly everything. I'm looking forward to use twitter, youtube and facebook.

Thanks for your reply, just wanted to make things clear before i get started.

Why would you "double-cloak"? I don't get it.
