Amazon Affiliate Linking

So will google penalize your site for having a lot of links going to amazon. I see a lot of affliate sites have the same schema post a lot of products in the niche and when you click on it it redirects you to amazon. The question is on majority of these sites there is very little about the product and massive amounts of links.

So does google penalize your site when you do this? or is it okay practice?

Just nofollow all amazon affiliate links.

Always good to through in a couple of other links in there (relevant but not competitions or somewhere you can buy something) to even out the affiliate links.

I believe it does have an affect if you ONLY have affiliate links on your site. Good to throw some links like wikipedia as a reference to the product or something.

Add no-follow attribute to all links cloaked using Gocodes plugin, which will help you to stop passing link juice to affiliate links. Additionally I recommend you to add the affiliate URL trigger in your robots.txt as disallow.
