I am trying to rank for a keyword that has a decent amount of searches a month, and I could potentially use amazon to monetize it.
Everything looks fine but I can see some Amazon Ads with that specific Keyword.

Is that a GOOD or BAD sign?

They got a ridiculous advertising budget man. Even if you get first position their ad will still steal a lot of your clicks and your website will be advertising the same products anyway.

Usually people will click on the ads if they are looking to buy it from amazon. But you still can get a lot of clicks from first position - if you rank first. Try searching for other keywords and if you can't stik to this and start ranking.

Like said above, Amazon and big companys like that has Crazy budget. But if you still get impressions i would go for it even if Amazon takes some of the klicks there still can be some left for you.

If you have semrush i would check the keyword there and see what sites that compete over the keyword

If you have the budget you can also advertise on Google via amazon. This is done via Google Merchant Centre. But as everyone stated above, you need to have a pretty hefty budget.
