am I playing it too safe?

Selling B2B SaaS ($99/mo) to home service businesses (roofing, hvac, plumbing, landscape, electric), never done cold email before but i figured its my fastest outreah channel for now.

Current setup:- 3 sending domains (not my main), all Google Workspace- SPF, DKIM, DMARC configured on all. Instantly Growth plan + Nano credits for lead sourcing/Apify gmaps scraping- MillionVerifier on every list before upload- Total daily capacity today: ~30/day, full ramp in ~4 weeks: ~60/day. Current campaign: 316 leads loaded, 2-step sequence.

Questions:

1. Is 3 domains / 3 inboxes too slow for a solo founder? Should I spin up 2-3 more in parallel now, or wait until I validate the offer? Im following standard safety precautions in terms of not sending too much too fast.

2. Running one niche home service (plumbing) for first real campaign (~300 leads). Should I test 3-4 niches (roofing, hvac, landscaping) in parallel at 75 leads each, or run one vertical to full signal first?

3. Anything obviously broken or missing before I scale volume?

I feel like im going crazy scraping emails and setting up domains when i keep hearing people talk about sending hundreds of emails/day, feels like im going way too slow.

3 domains / 3 inboxes is a fine start. Better to validate the offer first before adding more. You can always scale later

For testing, stick with one niche (plumbing) until you see clear signal, either positive reply rate or nothing. Testing 4 niches at once with 75 leads each won't give you clean data because volume per niche is too low

One thing missing: personalization beyond just a name. Generic templates kill reply rates even with perfect deliverability. Make each email relevant to the prospect's specific business (recent Google review, service they offer, location)

Also, 30-60 emails/day per inbox is conservative but safe. Don't rush. Burned domains cost more time than slow ramp-up

I’d stick to one niche first plumbing is a good call because if you split across roofing, HVAC, etc you won’t know what’s actually working.

i stopped playing it safe years ago, its the internet, somedays clients love it, somedays clients hate it, then the ones who hate it, realize they had an opportunity to work with me and then I'm gone and they feel horrible for losing me and my services.

do as much as you can without burning yourself out, just a little bit everyday.

it sounds like you need targeted email marketing, there are a bunch of services that offer that online, google it. then find the ones that are based on your zip code or area you want to provide the service.

if you do it in bulk, then start small, have solid reasonable offer, then send thousands of emails through the email direct marketing services.

A contractor and myself sent uspostal mail direct flyeres for insurance claims in the roofing industry. we were closing deals on a weekly basis because of those direct marketing flyers.

one page, one offer, one price, lots of traffic, gauge the traffic, use heatmaps (crazy egg if i remember not promoting it) and then see where visitors are viewing the sales page and then rinse repeat until you have the kind of results you are looking for.

Your setup is actually solid you’re not going slow; you’re doing it the right way for deliverability. No need to add more domains right now. First validate your offer with the current setup. Focus on one niche, like plumbing, so you get clean data before expanding. Once you start getting positive replies, then scale your volume and domains safely.

The problem with marketing a software as a service to businesses in the trades is
that the owners don't clearly see the value of the software, usually.

In order to facilitate that, you need to show them their own problem and then how you can fix it.
For example, you can go to Google reviews and find where a customer was complaining and then copy that
and put it at the top of the email template and then reply about how your software would bridge the gap for them.

In short, using real data about a situation that they're contending with will always land better results.

Start with 1-2 niches smart. See if you manage to make some decent results and then think about it.

You aren't playing it too safe, you're playing it smart. Starting with 3 domains and a low daily volume is the best way to keep your deliverability high while you validate the offer. I'd stick with one niche first to get a clear signal before trying to scale or add more verticals. Better to go slow now than to get all your domains blacklisted in the first week.
