Am I being Scammed?

I've asked to be guest interviewed on a radio show for self-development (my niche), by someone who claims to have 50,000 - 1 million listeners per episode. I'm being asked to pay $150 for the appearance but when I do some research on the radio show, her social media presence & engagement seems to be poor for an audience as big as she claims:

Simple answer - I listen to many RJs, but I have never linked myself to his/her social profiles.
 
Wouldn't the Arbitron ratings give you an indication as to how many people listen?

50,000 to 1 MM is quite a spread.
 
No it is very usual for that to happen. A local radioing dj in my town is very popular but has a very low social media presence also
 
I'd have to have some compelling reason to trust her claims before I'd hand her any $$.

Why are you being asked to pay for an guest interview they asked you to do?

But if it was me, I would defiantly pay 150 for a commercial on the radio. Just plug the fuck out of your site and your shit your selling.

Yeah but does your local DJ claim to have 50,000 -1 million listeners per episode? That's what looks a little suspect.

I know, right? I mean her personal page gets OK engagement I must admit, but not for 50,000 - 1 million listeners per episode of her radio show should get.

And her YouTube, Twitter & Facebook fan pages just suck. They're ghost-towns. Hmm.....
 
A show with "50k-1mm listeners" is like an employee that, when questioned, says their task took "about 1 to 16 hours to complete". You just know it's a load of shit.
 
Radio and television listeners/viewers stats are a lot like analyzing internet traffic. An established website will have fairly consistent traffic levels on a daily basis, but when you break it down on an hourly basis, sometimes there is a lot of ups and downs in that graph. So saying they have 50,000 - 1m listeners is perfectly normal, but those are probably the numbers for the whole day, not just their show in particular. So you should assume you'll get 50,000 listeners at best and anything else would be a bonus.

But $150 for a guest spot to speak to 50,000 targeted listeners about your business on an established radio show seems pretty good to me.

Sure, but that's not apples with apples. The OP said 'per episode', which clearly means it's that one show.

It is possible of course that their standard base is ~50k, and one episode once went viral and caught 1m listeners.

I don't understand, you need help or not. Instead of asking a question about the statement I gave, you are worried more about the errors in English.

Ask her to show you some nielsen (old arbitron) maximizer ratings for her day part. 50,000 to 1 million is too big of a spread and I call BS on this one. What market (city)do you live in and what are the call letters? I can probably get you some real numbers if you'd like.
