Am I being Scammed?

Paying to be interviewed? You are providing content for her 'audience'... that's between 50,000 to 1,000,000.... lol.

But $150 for a guest spot to speak to 50,000 targeted listeners about your business on an established radio show seems pretty good to me.

That might be true, if she even gets 50,000....I'd like to find out her figures somehow.

It is possible of course that their standard base is ~50k, and one episode once went viral and caught 1m listeners.

I think that's probably right

She asked you to be interviewed and wants 150. What the hell lol. My mind = destroyed.

If she approached you to guest radio but is asking for money, then you're probably getting scammed.

To be clear guys & gals: She didn't ask me, I approached her.

Ask her to show you some nielsen (old arbitron) maximizer ratings for her day part. 50,000 to 1 million is too big of a spread and I call BS on this one. What market (city)do you live in and what are the call letters? I can probably get you some real numbers if you'd like.

Could you? I'd appreciate that buddy :)

speak to one of the clients she already had on the radio show, see if its worth it.

Don't do it unless you feel like losing $150 OP, seems like Deb is just trying to put some groceries in the fridge..

It turns out it's internet radio so there are no Nielsen ratings. How the fizuzzle can anyone check then?

One does not pay to be interviewed on the Radio. You get asked to do an interview and that's it. Most of the time it's pre-recorded and cut anyway..

But seriously, NOBODY asks you for cash!

Here are the https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0-fFb-SVSkMdHU4VDJHWWlVVjg/edit?usp=sharingt me about their station. I may be dim, but is it a load of figures but no actual ratings for their shows??

I hope I missed something.

I have no problem paying 150 for an on air interview, but i would want a videotape of it. (document hares, video shares, pod casts...)

My problem is that she is lying to you. I don't trust liars.

I live in Houston, and the population here is 5 million. One morning show has 50% market share of the morning traffic commute.

Now at best, if everyone in Houston were listening to he radio at the same time, they would have 2.5 million listeners.

This is, of course impossible, with a population of 5 million, you would be lucky to find 20% listening to the radio at one time, and they would be split between dozens of stations.

BUT - Even if as many as 20 percent of the entire population of Houston were listening to the radio at the same time that one show would still have only 500,000 listeners.

So this woman is claiming that she has more listeners than the most popular radio show in Houston Texas in the middle of the morning commute.

That's bullshit, unless she is the morning girl in New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago.

Smaller stations do to sell advertising time. Its an on air interview, not a news story, like buying a 30 minute block.

Yeah, I agree with pretty much all of that. I've decided I'm not paying her a dime. If she wants me on, I'll let her to promote one of my products and get JV money, but that's all, she can take it or leave it. I'm not paying her for what looks like nowhere near 50k - 1 million listeners, and yes she is lying to me about it.

Thanks all of you for the input!

Hahaha... I love the phrase at the bottom of the stats she sent you;
"All stats are from our independent 3rd party providers"

I would make the point that if they're theirs, they're not exactly independent.

lol BHW gone full retard.

Seriously use some common sense.

At worst it's an outright scam, at best it's money down the shitter for some crappy podcast.

50k-1 million viewers per episode with those shit social media stats, and you gotta pay to get interviewed?

If you're even remotely considering this offer, I got a better offer from some prince in Nigeria who has millions tied up he's willing to share if you wanna go halves on the legal fees with me.

Don't pay , figure out another way to do that unless you are positive its genuine

I am talking in general terms.

I don't understand, you need help or not. Instead of asking a question about the statement I gave, you are worried more about the errors in English.

I was joking around dude, I wasn't making fun of you.

Do you like radio stations on Facebook? Even if they have only 50,000 listeners I'd still do it

Well you have to keep in mind that her presence focus is on the radio.... unless she is actively promoting herself online, too, or encouraging her listeners to follow her online, etc.... then they have no reason to go look for her online. That's not where her audience is. Her audience is in the car, driving to work, etc.

If you're really unsure otherwise, though, then tell her you're willing to still do it, but for a lesser price. Consider it advertising. If 50,000 people actually hear your segment and only a handful come to visit your site later, then it's still worthwhile. You could also request that as part of the deal, she link to your site on her social media sites, etc, too.

I'm interested, please send me a PM with the info.

I'm guessing she just exaggerated with the 1m. Don't think she would try to scam you on her own radio show.
