Are they the owner / senior mods friends or random reputable members?

If they are any reputable members, Are they picked by Mods preference or already applied for the job by themselves?

Before concluding this, Tag your favorite Mods.

How did I become a mod?

Well, the Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft the banhammer from the bosom of the water, signifying by Divine Providence that I, Apricot was to carry Excalibur the banhammer.

To become a Mod, one has to fill out this application - https://www.blackhatworld.com/applicationform/staff-application-form.1/form

After the application is completed and submitted the applicant is then vetted by a committee.

The next step is an Admin either doing the thumbs up and appointing them to a Moderator in Training position or the thumbs down and the application is shelved/rejected.

If there is a thumbs up scenario, there is a vetting process and a discussion at some point based on what the MiT has done during the training process.

Should all go well, an Admin then gives them full Mod status.

Our actions are reviewed by the Admins on a regular basis as well they should be so that the forum is managed as the ownership desires.

Edit: The alternative to become a Mod was just shared by @Apricot above me.

This is definitely the more reliable route to becoming a mod. It's much harder to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart throws a sword at you.

I think everyone has cleared up on how to be a mod on BHW. Maybe just Maybe I will be around long enough to make it to the Ranks ;)

In all honesty, I never wanna be a mod around here (which you do I believe, OP). Mod guys work a lot, I prefer doing my own projects as moderation takes a lot of time. Let the pros do the play ;)
