Ahrefs DR major update

45 to 9. Need someone to do a correlation study between the new dr and serp rankings to see if it has higher correlation.

I suspect it will have much higher correlation. Otherwise ahrefs would not have done it.

LOL at all the dummies having a cry on the ahrefs blog that they will end their ahrefs subscription since their dr tanked in the new rankings. Some people are totally clueless.

So all the websites with poor PBNs have dramatically dropped, the real ones where I invested real big money on real blog posts have no change. So this update really clears up poor blackhat seo

Agreed about crybabies comments. However new DR doesn't make any sense now. 199+ Millions domains have rating between 1 and 19 DR, 1 Million domains between 19 and 100. This is not realistically how the Internet looks like...

Not really. Websites with 60 DR (real, normal websites with massive traffic and good rankings) now are down to 15 DR.

Emm, from top million domains in Alexa and their backlink profile (which I spent fair amount analyzin), I would say this is a very realistic of how the real internet looks like

the update is still very off, one of mine spammed to death site has DR of 25 while some clean one has DR of 10 :|. As always, still bad at detecting spam.

Ahrefs went mad they think their self-bigger then google :D. A big joke with their new updates, spammy sites has DR 30+ with no traffic and white hat sites which are older then years have 20-30k daily traffic. DR has gone to 12, 15, 20 like this. Over the decades still google is not 100% correct about their spam metrics but these guys think that they will create a revolution. BTW no change in rankings yet and I think there will be no change in future as well. Because Google doesn't care what ahrefs says about a site DR, they have their own so guys chill.

Of course the DR change and ranking are irrelevant. Google couldn't care less for any 3rd party metrics. However the problem is that we use this metrics to analyze and filter websites and domains. Now Ahrefs DR is borderline useless for this purpose. Hundreds of millions websites/domains have DR between 0 and 18. Thats a problem when you need to filter those who are decent.

I think there is something behind, ahrefs are not stupid and they will not run such a major update if they are not sure what they are doing, or what impact that will have over the market.

Yeah this guy have ANY idea how rankings work. "Little to no value". Clueless at best.

I don`t think it`s a bad update, just that now it doesn`t have relevancy anymore, if 199+ milion domains are now between 0 - 19 and 1 million from 20 - 100, what`s the point of having DR in the range 0 - 100.

It`s not such a usefull metric anymore, maybe this should have been a new feature, and not replace the DR.

Makes sense to me.
Really? So Google is like "OK Forbes which is gigantic website with over 700k pages in the index, worthing gazillion of dollars think this website is good enough and interesting to its readers to put a link in the article. However since they have used their limit of 10k links already I will gave no value to this link" and then "Oh there is this 1 page shitty website with spinned content that have only 1 link - this is so good, totally real and natural" - boom first page.

Some common sense, please?

I must admit your point is really logical but maybe we see only the tip of the iceberg ...or they made a huge mistake...
