Yes the filter is a pain in the a**. Do you really want to be here? A small dab of patience is all it takes, and a little persistance.
If I didn't care too much, I wouldn't have bothered to ask about it. I'm pretty sure my frustration came across in this thread, but I hope I also made it clear that I understand that there is a good rationale for these kinds of restrictions. Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying (and please use slightly less accusatory tone). I respect the need for rules like this, but I am expressing that it affects people who are trying to make quality contributions as well.
Plus, this is a BlackHat forum, and you are here. If a little text filter kicks your a**, what are you going to do when Google starts scrutinizing your traffic. This is a marketing forum. Be creative. Think outside the box.
C'mon. I could sit here all day and re-word my post, but I'd rather be reading more helpful BHW posts instead.
Also, read the RULES. There's a stickie somewhere that specifically tries to disuade newbies from posting anything. There's a reason for that, and you should read the stickie.
I've actually read the rules, the FAQ probably more in depth than 99% of new users ever do. And before you get too uppity telling me to RTFM, re-read your post. "Dissuade newbies from posting anything"??? Uhhh, so how exactly do you propose new users become members of the community then? Whatever point it is you're trying to get across here is offensive and doesn't make any sense.
If I missed a sticky, fine, I'd be happy to read it, but this really doesn't make sense.
I've actually spent well over a month of serious time reading all I can here at BHW before wanting to start posting - so I could educate myself, not post up stupid "please spoonfeed me" posts, etc. I don't mean to get too argumentative, but c'mon, why are you being so harsh to me first?
Also, the "Introductions" sub-forum might be a more appropriate place for you to gain the skills to assimilate. No one there but newbs for the most part. You seem pretty cool, but others have been banned before their 10th post for being too aggressive in their efforts at "maneuvering".
Alright, thanks for the "pretty cool" comment. I'm sorry if I'm being harsh to you, but you're not giving me too much credit. I know you don't know if I'm clueless or experienced (I'm toward the latter in forum and 'net stuff in general, just not SEO), so actually, I'm pretty sure there's nothing for me to learn in the "Introductions" forum.
After about 20 posts all the filter stuff kind of relaxes. Mods pay close attention to people in their first few posts to get some sense of whether or not they are going to be trouble, and if the evidence is clear that they are, they get banned.
Actually, my post relates exactly to that process and the unfortunate pollution it causes on BHW. I figured out what was triggering the filter, so you can go read that thread if you care.
So breathe. Relax. Read. Do text searches for words that are relevent to your interests and get familiar with that. Learn the personalities here that know something about something you are interested in.
I'll give you the benefit of doubt not having known my behavior before you told me all this, but I'm actually one of the few people who has done all that and more. I've spent numerous 12-15 hour days reading BHW in over a month before I felt like I wanted to start posting. Your tips are common sense to me, and I agree they are exactly what everyone should be doing. I know that's why some of these rules are in place, but in this case, it has also served to frustrate someone (me) who really tried to do things the right way but still got frustrated.
Most particularly don't post stupid little posts trying to "fluff-up" your post count. It's a temptation; I've been there. I've also seen people have all there posts reset to 0 as punishment. These Mods are smart & they've seen it all. Consider, they manage a forum chock-filled with rulebreakers, lawbreakers, customs-violators, black hat pirates, anti-social personalities. Hell, worst of all there's even a LAWYER here, and even he's cowed into submission.
That's actually the point of the contribution/feedback I wanted to make (and now have made). These rules backfire on BHW to some extent and/or the mods aren't harsh enough in penalizing people for making useless posts to increase their counts. Most of the best BHW threads are full of clutter like that that makes it difficult and time-consuming to read.
So, understand who you are surrounded by, and who's watching you. In 50 or so posts you'll get the feel of it and everything will work out.

Yeah, it wasn't anything to do with that - it was a really innocuous synonym for the brown stuff that comes out of your back end..... a word that has been used on mainstream TV for decades now, so I'm a little surprised it was in the filter. Too bad, but problem solved.

I think the filter could use some review for some of the rather tame words it seems to contain!)
So, sorry for the long response. I want to stress that I am highly impressed with BHW and only want to contribute in a meaningful manner. I thank you for your reply and hope I wasn't too harsh in response.
